When you answer your phone to an 'unknown' number in a grumpy voice expecting it to be a cold caller/sales person and the caller then goes on to tell you that you have won a prize! Suddenly your low grumpy voice changes to a high pitched squeal and you feel stupid!
Doh!
Ha! I have done that but with someone trying to offer me an interview for a job, my autofill had put my comping mobile number on the application and I forgot to correct it (whoops!)
But luckily I had a chance to show I wasn't the abrupt ice maiden that answered the phone :rotfl:
And I got the job so it ended well! You never learn anything by doing it right
A very special thank you to everyone that posts :heartpuls0 -
This happened about seven years ago. I use to enjoy comping on here when my two children were toddlers but due to having no babysitter I use to also enter my husband into comps that I thought he would enjoy.
One Friday morning he was washing the car as we were going to my brother’s wedding the next day and he was not in the best of moods when his mobile rang. It was a national newspaper saying that he had won a weekend at a top hotel with tickets to a special posh evening event where he and a guest would meet all the England football team ( I can`t remember exact details). This event was to take place the next day. But my husband snaps down the phone I can’t go to this I have a wedding to go to and hangs up. He was distracted with washing the car, getting things ready for the wedding etc and thought it was some sales ploy.
He mentioned it to me that night and I told him it was a real competition I had entered him in, and I could have made excuses at the wedding for him and he could have gone to the event with a friend.
Moral of that story is to always warn your other half when you have entered them into a competition."And may the odds be ever in your favor."

When MSE's stupid word filter replaces a totally innocent word and puts !!!!! in the middle of a URL.0

Not sure if this happens to others or whenever it's just because of my tired old laptop, but when entering a rafflecopter competition and tweeting the twitter entry, the tweet pop-up occasionally disappears before I've had a chance to click "view tweet" to copy & paste the link for the entry...so I have to pee about opening a new window to go on my twitter page and manually find it.

I had this too, until somebody kindly posted that if you unfollow rafflecopter on twitter, the problem goes away, they leave the box open longer because it also asks you to follow them. Hope this helps.

Thanks for information about Rafflecopter/Twitter RTs.
That has been an annoyance for a while, now unfollowed Rafflecopter, and hoping dialogue box will stay open longer.0 -

That's interesting, I always figured it was somehow competition dependent, because (for me - using an ipad) sometimes it disappears almost instantly and sometimes it stays up long enough for me to select "view tweet". I can do 2 different competitions, one straight after the other, within 2 minutes, and it'll stay up on the first, but disappear on the second (and be the same every day for weeks), very annoying! I'll try unfollowing rafflecopter (thanks Marg2k8) and see if it improves (although it'll disqualify me from at least 1 rafflecopter run competition where it was a requirement to follow rafflecopter, but never mind, worth it if it works!).

When you have a comping date of birth that makes you 20 years younger set to Last Pass. Then you apply for a new credit card and use Last Pass to complete the application. Then you receive your new credit card, phone to activate, fail the security and discover you set it up with incorrect date of birth.
The stress to get that little problem fixed (not helped by total incompetence of cc company) was just awful
Just for the record I no longer have a comping date of birth :cool:The best things in life are free.....0
