  • Morning all,

Cathy - yeah I think you're right. She'll come round eventually. I think as her only child she's a just a bit protective.

As you all know, I enjoy my fitness and sport and I've often questioned if my choice of career, sitting in an office all day, is really going to satisfy me. I felt The Reserves is the perfect way for me to dip my toe in, doing something I'll enjoy, meeting new people, voluntarily, and getting paid to do so. I'm still in the very early stages and exploring the options, so it may not even come to anything. I've another meeting next Tuesday, so will have an update after that.

I worked late last night, till about 7.30. Home to make dinner and have a call with my step-dad, who told me what my mums reaction was once we came off the call. On the whole, she understands why I'm interested but is concerned that if there was a conflict, I would be first in line. Anyway, I was snoozing for 10.

No gym this morning. I've the physio after work today then a light run then football training, so that's enough to keep me going. Oh - and a phone call with my gran, of course. Wish me luck.

Speky, I've always hated sitting down all day, which is very bad for both health and fitness, so I totally get where you are coming from on that. :) Hey and good luck with the phone call with your gran :)

  • Cathy - Yes, they say sitting is shocking for your health, hence why some people have standing desks or bikes at their computer. I try to counter all the negatives by going to the gym I suppose
beanielou - hey!! Thanks for stopping by!

    Good morning everyone,

    Happy Friday!!

Yesterday was my fortnightly trip to the physio only for him to tell me that he doesn't want to see me anymore given my progress. The best break-up I've ever experienced. So that's a decent bit of money saved moving forward. I then headed home for my catch up with my gran and told her the news about my interest in The Reserves. She too wasn't particular pleased as the artillery are the front line and most in danger. But her husband, my granddad, and other members of her family served in the military, so it's not something completely new to her. I'll give her and my mum some time to let it sink in.

I then had football training which didn't finish till 10pm, meaning my heart is still racing at like 11pm, despite all showered and in bed. Subsequently, no gym this morning but I'll defo go after work.

I don't have much planned this weekend, although I am going to go to IKEA and buy my Xmas tree and get my £20 voucher, too. I know it's early but since I don't spend Christmas here, I feel i need to bring it forward a bit, just to get me in the spirit and get my moneys worth too!! Don't think I'm up to much else, so it should be relatively low-spend aside from the usual suspects.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

I've got a standing desk but don't use it enough. We just aren't built to sit down all day.

Re Christmas trees, I hate plastic trees but find real ones shed all over the floor, so I don't actually ever have one. I've often fancied the idea of building one from random bits of wood, a bit like this:

But I've never got around to it though! :)

    Good news on the physio.

I have a wee wooden table top tree.

Hey Speky! How's it going  Everything all right? ... Gosh I hope my pic of a wooden Christmas tree didn't put you off lol xx
  • Hello all!!

No @Cathybird, not scare me off at all. A very nice idea that tree is too!

It's been a while, but only because my laptop was away getting fixed. All back up and running now. Need to get back into the swing of things.

Not too much has happened in the couple of weeks, nothing major of note and I'll save you the boredom of the smaller stuff. From an MSE perspective, I took advantage of the Black Friday sales and tried to buy as much of my Xmas shopping. Now need to wait on it arriving, cross check I've got what I wanted, wrap and then I can kick back and relax.

Wednesday today, isn't it? Been to gym this morning and I'll go to yoga at lunch. Staying a tad later in work tonight then no plans this evening. Homemade lamb rogan josh tonight, purely so that I can use a nan bread that's in the freezer as it's taking up too much space for my liking.

Need to spend a bit more time catching up, so I'll no doubt pop back.

Speky, I love lamb rogan josh! I never make it at home though, and don't really "do" takeaway, so I don't often eat it. I do make butter chicken, which is probably my favourite Indian recipe. Must try to make lamb at some point.Good to hear that you're otherwise well! :)
