I got the feeling you might be a perfectionist! Maybe its partly about reframing thoughts and listening to yourself more, the gym and yoga can do wonders but can be damaging if its another thing on top of a mega list you 'should do'. It might help to try view them as tools to help not tick lists, then on days when actually what you need to do for you is sit on the sofa with the xbox on, its not that you have failed to do something good for you, its that you have actually listened to yourself and your needs?

I'm 29 and for a long time I felt this huge pressure to always be busy, its like something people show off about. I learnt that if I have a mega busy Saturday seeing people, I need to keep Sunday completely to myself, while my friend is the opposite she gains energy being around people and finds days like that draining
That's a good way of looking at it actually and one I hadn't considered in truth. I'm exactly like you in that I need my own space, which is something I get a lot of at the moment since I moved down to Manchester. I feel happy, probably the happiest I've been, but that episode last week really made me feel fragile for the first in my life.

    Hey Speky
As you know, I have awful anxiety. For the first 30+ years of my life I thought that everyone felt the same way as I did, worrying about everything and being a perfectionist. Being able to recognise it and accept it for what it is has been a huge help to me. I am actually medicated to help take the edge off how I'm feeling about things, and have been through CBT which has been incredibly helpful to me. I'm a fixer, and if something is broken I want to fix it asap.
I also have the Headspace app, which I find very useful.
Don't think I can offer any further advice other than what's on here. Someone once said to me that I needed to learn the art of 'good enough' rather than perfection, which I still struggle with but I can let some stuff go.
And remember, it's absolutely OK to have days where you feel awful.
A friends aunt of mine used to train in CBT and often told me of the benefits. It's something I've considered actually. I have the Calm app on my phone but I'll admit to not using it as much as I should. I'll check out Headspace, thank you :)

I ensured my weekend was spent mostly with the feet up, which felt like what the doctor ordered. So, back into the swing of things again this sunny Monday morning. I'll have yoga tonight which, as always, I'm looking forward to. Something healthy and light for dinner, too.

I'm visiting back home this coming weekend, so I'm trying to pull together a plan of who I'm seeing and when, just to make sure I catch up with everyone. It means that my weekend then tends to be quite manic, as I drive across the central belt of Scotland visiting various family and friends, but it has to be done and I'm looking forward to it.

    Yesterday was NSD #1.

May was a strange month for me. It started with the high of being on holiday in Spain with my family and ended with some sort of breakdown, and for that reason, it'll be a month I won't forget. I'm feeling better and I hope to learn from it all moving forward. Financially, it was an ok month. I finished on 15 NSD's which is good for me but I did have to spend £100 on clothes before my business trip away.

    Career
    • Make a sale
Still nothing yet. The business has a renewed focus and we’re hiring a new member of staff to work alongside me which will help.
    • Maintain performance journal
A good habit I have started and is something which I update every working day
    • Go above and beyond
I’ve taken on some additional responsibility, including the hiring new staff and writing my own news article, too. I now just need to make sure I manage my time and work/life balance.

    Relationships
    • Keep in touch with family and friends
I was in Spain with my mum and SD which was lovely and over far too quickly. I’m visiting back home this weekend to see as many people as possible and then I have my step brother and his gf visiting me later in the month.
    • Meet new people
I’ve had such a focus on work and myself that I’ve neglected this in May. I tend to find this also costs money in one way or another, so it’s something I need to budget for.

    Self
    • Cut down phone time
    Down 24% on last week
    • Less sugar
Not so much. The physio’s orders has meant I can’t do any cardio, so I’ve decided to ‘bulk’. Or in other words, eats whatever I want (to an extent).
    • Read more (1/5)
Finished 1 book on holiday and nearly finished another!!
    • Meditate & Attend yoga frequently
Now going to yoga 3 times a week and sticking to that as much as I can. I do love it and all that it does for me. Especially motivating is the small improvements.
    • Continue to learn Spanish
Duolingo have made some changes to the experiences which helps spur me on. So I’ll maintain this at lunch

    Good morning everyone,

After work yesterday, I just went to the gym then yoga and home to bed. How exciting. On the plus, I notched up another NSD taking me to 2.

I downloaded a new alarm app. You can only turn it off by solving difficult maths problems, something like 85+23+69. Nearly launched my phoned out the window right enough but it eventually worked. I'm supposed to have a pub quiz tonight but it's organised by my ex-colleague who is very unreliable, so I'm going to assume it won't happen. I'm waiting for a spend day so I can purchase some other things, such as train tickets and yoga blocks, so I'm swithering wither to gamble and do it now. It can wait in all honesty.

    Good morning,

Yesterday was uneventful, which meant I got another NSD taking me to 3 so far.

No gym this morning. I actually managed to solve this mornings 3 maths sums first time and pretty quickly, so by the time I was done I still hadn't fully woken up. Aside from that, I'm feeling a bit sore for yesterday so I might go after work today or I might not go at all. L/O mac n cheese for dinner tonight.

    Morning everyone,

A warm morning here in Manchester. I think it might have been raining during the night too.

My car's all packed up and ready for my drive back to Glasgow later this afternoon. I've taken a half day and will set off around 1.30ish, giving me plenty of time. As every time, I've a busy weekend, seeing lots of people, tonight I'll be going for drinks with ex-colleagues then visiting my step-brother in his new home. I'm looking forward to it all, it's been a while.

Yesterday I had a phone call scheduled with a client in Miami at 7.30pm our time, so I was in the office 12 hours and had a relatively productive day. Was looking forward to my bed.

No NSD as I got a haircut, filled the car up, bought some groceries and bought yoga bricks which is needed for someone as unflexible as me!

    Have nice weekend everyone.

    Good morning everyone,

Nothing but blue skies this morning, yet damp and cold.

I returned late last night from my trip back home. As always, it was spent visiting lots of people which was great. It included a trip to the dentist. They've been my dentist all my life and are well known in my area for being really rather good. I also found out that they're much more affordable than dentists in Manchester, too. Anyway, I had to get a filling replaced. No big deal. In and out in 30 minutes. Even polished my teeth and gave me a full check up too, £30 for the privilege. All was tickedy boo until my drive home yesterday when the same tooth cracked in half. So whilst I'm not in pain or anything, it's far from ideal, so I'll be phoning them at 9am and asking for an appointment this week again to get it sorted!

So, aside from all this, things are fine. Got my shopping in for the week ahead, will visit the gym and yoga tonight too.

5 NSD's so far this month.

    Morning chums,

Pleased to report I slept for about 8 hours last night. My new mathematical alarm did go off at 5.30 for the gym but I felt in desperate need for sleep, so I managed to do my 3 sums and nod back off.

I didn't manage to the gym yesterday unfortunately as I had a few odd jobs to do around the house, which I am pleased to say are now ticked off the list. I bought my return tickets for going back up to Glasgow in August which cost me £40 all in. Which is fine I suppose. I use about that in diesel when I drive, it takes about the same amount of time and so the difference is, this time I get to relax a bit.

Dentist appointment booked for 5pm on Friday. So once again, I'll leave here at around 1ish and drive up. No pain or anything in my tooth but it does look and feel really not right. Given it's the same tooth that they done work on last week, should I be expected to pay for full price for treatment again?

    Good morning,

    I hope everyone is well.

A super busy day yesterday meant I didn't get the chance to pop by. Not much to report though. Usual stuff. Today will be much the same. I've been to the gym this morning which will free up my evening in which I need to stay late in work for a bit to make some calls to America then I've got my weekly catch up with my gran.

I've got chicken marinading in the fridge to make katsu curry. It's Jamie Oliver recipe and I've never made it before, god knows what it'll turn out like.

    Today will be NSD #8.

    Hey everyone,

    Happy Friday.

I feel it hasn't stopped raining for, like, 4 or 5 days. I thought moving further south from Scotland meant dry and warm Junes?!?!

Stayed late in work yesterday as predicted, still didn't get half as much done as I'd hoped.

Anyway, I'm heading back to Glasgow this afternoon to see my dentist at 5pm. No other plans for this evening but will see family and friends again. Couple of spend days planned so I'll probably remain on 8 days so far.
