Technology to help you manage your time on technology - https://www.hold.app/

It rewards you with discounts and things for keeping off your phone. Basically every 20 minutes = 10 points and the points add up to discounts or virtual scratchcards to win amazon cards etc. To be honest most of the discounts you could easily get yourself with a google search but you can also donate things like pencils and books to charitable causes. DS1 and his uni mates all do it together and compete with eachother - it helps keep them focused and they set themselves a donation goal.

  • Hey joey,

Great to 'see' you. And with yet another awesome suggestion. I'll dig into that today, thank you!
  • Morning all,

I don't normally mind Tuesdays but today was the day my bank caught up with my shenanigans over the weekend and I'm £104 lighter. Considering I was out till the wee small hours and that included dinner and taxi's it's perhaps not too bad, however I said I'd be home by midnight and that clearly didn't happen! Anyway, I've moved some things about in my budget and we're back on track.

    Yesterday was NSD #1 too.

I skipped the gym yesterday after work, I just wanted home. A (burnt) omelette for dinner and then chilled with the boys on the xbox for a bit. Slept like a baby, too.

Today I suspect I'll be late leaving the office. I'm back down to London tomorrow till Friday night so lots of admin stuff to do before I go. The train tickets and hotel will be paid for by work, everything else I need to pay for and I think it goes on expenses.

Chicken casserole for dinner tonight and not much else planned.
  • Morning everyone,

I feel like I've not been on here in ages and as such, I've dropped the MSE ball.

I was in London with work last week, Wednesday till Friday. Most of my spends will go on expenses (food and travel) but others wont. It was a crazy busy few days which meant the healthy eating goes out the window too, coupled with no gym either, so I feel I've only managed to breathe yesterday really.

So, right back to it now, with no planned trips to London soon (thankfully). I am driving back up to Glasgow this weekend mind you, I've got my mates 30th, a dentist and opticians appointment, dinner with my family to celebrate my grans birthday and other things too. It shouldn't be a spendy weekend really.

So given the crazy week I've had, I'm only on NSD #3, unfortunately. A bit of normality (this weekend aside) will mean I can change that over the rest of the month!
  • Morning everyone,

It's confirmed: I have the cold. I also have a sore head but that might be due to the clash of heads I suffered at football on Sunday. So I'm a bit of a wet towel for now. I'll survive.

Yesterday, I was first in work and last out. Busy but productive. Home to make my dinner, prep my lunch and go to bed just after 9. A restless night was had but I'm first in work again. I've brought my gym stuff and depending on how I feel, I might visit afterwards.

Need to go and cross check my bank, now that it's caught up with last weeks activities, with YNAB and also put my expense form in too. Must get cracking!
  • Good morning,

Happy hump day and happy birthday to my gran too. I've sent her a nice bouquet of flowers which should be arriving within the next couple of hours. I'm going back up to Glasgow this weekend, so I'll see her on Saturday for a bite to eat and give her a big hug.

As for today, I've booked myself into a yoga class at lunch time. It lasts 45 minutes so I should have enough time to quickly nip out, go to yoga, come back and eat my lunch at my desk. It'll be the first time I've tried it so we'll see how we get on. I've also got football training on tonight so lots of exercise to be had.

I'm feeling super organised again after a crazy few weeks. Ticked off a lot of small annoying things on my to-do list and I'm getting back into the healthier lifestyle too. This all blended together makes for a good mix.

Couldn't get my NSD yesterday as I had to buy milk for the office. So a small 80p spend ruined it for me, damn it. Not doing very well on that front this month.

    Still stuck on NSD #3

On the NSD front - is it cheating if you allocated £x/week or month for office contributions and keep them either in your desk or your workbag and then it's not ruining an NSD but like your YNAB categories and just using allocated spends - like a regular direct debit. It's not like it was an additional reckless spend.

  • Very good point Joey. I'm not sure if it's cheating. On one hand it's an avoidable spend, on the other, if I have the money put aside, does it count?

Not sure if I could live with myself if I done it. I'd have to go to confessions if I was that way inclined.
  • You just sometimes get times like that Speky - as you know I get to London a few times a year with work and everything else 'real life' goes out of the window. You'll get back onto it, you're like a real master of moneysaving.
Happy birthday to your gran as well
  • Aw thanks CLL. That's very kind of you to say that. Genuinely means a lot.

A rather pleasant morning in Manchester. No clouds in the sky and quite mild.

Uneventful couple of days here. Most notable news is my renewed focus on healthy eating/exercising. I even went to the gym this morning!! I've got a chicken breast out defrosting for some new recipe tonight. and in between that, I need to pack for heading back up to Scotland tomorrow afternoon.

I must get cracking! Toodle pip
