  • All clarkes assistants have to push polish/cream, their are more interested in how much polish and cream is sold than shoes. My daughter worked there it's % based.

  • I spent £240 on my 3 daughters school shoes, 2 eldest girls football boots and training kit cos their team has just entered the league, 2 pairs of trainers, football socks, school PE trousers, a training kit for youngest daughter as she likes to come to training too!, a pair of "crocs" a winter sports top for son instead of a coat. Son's shoes came from Asda cos he now wears the same size as his dad so when he grows out of them dad has a spare pair!!

So not only the big back to school spend but also the start of footie season spend! Mind you I promised them boots for this season as they have always had second hand ones before

Of course the WORST thing is that, about 2-3 weeks AFTER the schools have started, Clark's will have a sale of children's shoes.

This is true, although they will have a very poor range of styles and sizes by then. Somehow shoes in the sale never fit my kids feet

Lol at the Clarks shoe cream!

My ds's shoes were from Tesco HH, they will probably be trashed in 6 months time, but he grows so fast he will probably need the next size up by then anyway. Once his shoe size settles down a bit, I will probably spend a little bit more though.

I do like him having a school uniform, but the thing that annoys me is the fact that you can only buy the sweatshirts with his school badge on from one shop, and they are nearly £15 each, whereas an identical jumper without the badge is £1.50 in Asda!

I have refused to buy the £15 ones this year - it's just not fair to expect people to pay that for one jumper, when their child will no doubt lose it the first time they have PE anyway, if they're anything like my DS!

You did well Snaggles and Lizalu. Where did you buy the shoes?

Well we have 2 deigner outlet/villages near us, with several shoe and sports shops. They were £10-15 a pair and reasonably good quality. Forgot about calculator to be honest, school have said they will advise when she starts (tomorrow) so we'll see then.

He won't be getting a coat this year as the brand new one we bought last year is still' brand new' in his wardrobe. Apparently it's more 'cool' to turn up at school either soaking wet or frozen to death.

My DS is exactly the same! We delayed buying him a coat and I'm glad we did as none of the kids wear them anyway! He won't wear a jumper either so wears a thin blazer and shirt all year round, rain or shine!

My DS won't wear a coat either but then we're from the north east where it is customary to wander round without one, especially on nights out. My friend's boyfirend is a southerner and laughs at us every time we (used to!!) go out!

I work in a school and we practically have to force the kids into their coats, even so they still take them off outside! Suppose all that running and football keeps you warm - I'm always freezing on playground duty but then I only stroll about!
