Children are so expensive! Why do we have them?

 OH and I just took the kids to get new school shoes, stationery and a watch for school. And it cost, wait for it...£210!!!! Arrrrrrrrgh!
It's lucky they don't need any uniform! We must have doubled that last year when DS1 started secondary school.
It's the parents who don't buy stationery for their kids who annoy me. DS2 is always lending his pencils, rubbers, etc, to his friends because he is so good natured and doesn't always get them back! Plus his colouring pencils go down really quickly because all his friends use them too. I wish I could send their parents a bill!:D

Oh my god!! How many kids have you got??
I've just paid £7 for a pair of school shoes for my son, and they're not bad quality. He will have scuffed them to bits and grown out of them in 6 months anyway, so they don't need to last forever."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Seconded - how many kids have you got?
We took OH's 2 kids out for new shoes, trainers, stationery and bags, spent a total of £90 on the both.odi et amo0 -
Only three! It's just feels like more!
The school shoes will last a whole year and they need them fitted properly as their feet are narrow at the ankle and wide across the toe. But I do dread this time of year! It always costs an arm and a leg.
The watches weren't essential but it's useful if they can tell the time at school and not have to keep asking other people what the time is.
As for the stationery, well DS1 and DD are at secondary school and need geometry sets and loads of other stuff (especially DD who is starting her GCSE subjects this year). Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Our last few weeks have been a bit like that HH, as well as having one on her way to high school for the first time.
We've done cheap shoes in the past, and they dont last anywhere near as long as dearer shoes. Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Totally agree, we have five children and we don't spend anywhere near even if we had the money lol.Daughter use to work for the well known children's shoe shop, and the amount of people came in to have their children's feet measured and then go in to the cheaper shop next door.

Well that's what I find Spud. The shoes are from Clarks but I know they will last a whole year and DS1 and 2 are very heavy on their shoes. Everything they have needs to be indestructible! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
