  • HSBC rang me back just now. They've looked at it again and will refund the money and give me £10 to say sorry :money: I was only annoyed for about 20 minutes so seems like a pretty good return on my investment :rotfl:

Payment should have been £44-75 but only £30 was sent.

Bank seem to have admitted their mistake and given you £10 for the inconvenience so therefore you only have to find £4-75.

Just make sure the £30 payment is changed to £44-75 going forward and keep the company informed about the bank's incompetence.
  • Only £30 was sent but £74.75 was taken. So until they give me the refund I am significantly down. And I still have to pay out £14.75 tomorrow to correct the underpayment. Fingers crossed they refund speedily.
  • Spoke to bank of mum and dad and they are lending me £120 until 23rd to cover DDs due. Should be last time I need to do that. Will go into my account tomorrow and will immediately be allocated on YNAB.
  • Oh HSBC. Why have you refunded £30? Things have now got more confusing.
  • Spoke to the company receiving the money yesterday - they have now received both amounts and have refunded £30. You couldn't make it up. I'm now £40 better off.
  • Survey progress:
    Swagbucks £35.51
    Onepoll £15.45
    Prolific academic £15.95
    Populus £4
    Opinion outpost £4.25

    Total - £75.16

That's 25% of my target. Looks like I might be able to pay for all of Christmas by answering mindless questions! Really chuffed with that. I'm now so bored with swagbucks I want to scream though. :rotfl:

Other things ticking over nicely. The extra £30 refund from HSBC is annoying me. I am by nature a very honest person but their poorly worded message means I could justify keeping it. I might stick it in the emergency fund and then it's there if they ask for it back.

Nearly made it to next UC payment. First thing to do when that arrives is pay back bank of mum and dad the bit they lent me last week. I really didn't want to borrow from anyone but it was definitely the right decision as we have paid everything on time and incurred no charges. The only downside has been that instead of the £120 I asked to borrow, they put £300 In my account. I have allocated most of this to future bills but we probably spent about £50 more than we needed to on not much. :o If we hadn't had the money we would have not had a choice.
  • Looked at capital one card again and even though we're overpaying it's hardly going down because the interest is so high. Really need to get rid asap. It's worrying me a huge amount.
  • Have just made an overpayment of £14.15 so it's now at a nice round £1300 outstanding.

Have you rung them and asked for them to reduce or freeze interest due to your financial issues currently. Worth a phone call to ask.
