Just been reading and have subscribed. Think we are very similar in age. I also use ynab, I adore it, it's fun to do, but can also be a touch depressing when you realise how your money doesn't go as far as you want it to! I have thousands sitting in the bank, but am ynab poor as have nothing available to spend on fun things, it's all allocated as buffer, emergency fund, holiday funds etc. Keep at it.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

Apparently it 'might be fibromyalgia' but they reckon no-one is diagnosing it much at the moment. So neurology a dead loss, neurosurgery a dead loss. Back to GP? Who knows. He's very, very low as a result. Still in terrible pain and having muscle spasms etc. Can't even really think about it all, it's all too !!!!. Told not to expect PIP. Blue badge application done.
Anyway, new pants exciting (ok, they're not but I've got to get my kicks where I can) :rotfl:
Surveys still chugging along nicely, totals have all gone up a bit. Cocked up the money this week by about £20 as thought universal credit was 4 weekly (like child benefit and tax credit ) but it's monthly. Had to borrow £20 to get through and my car was running on fumes.
Anyway, UC arrived today and I've finished paying for France holiday and allocated all of it on my budget. All good. Pay day next week and we're on half term. No real plans, DD is away for a few days and the boys just want to chill so expect I'll do housework etc. Nice to catch up with it allI Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.

Thanks Chrystal, scrap heap is exactly it - it does feel like he has been written off at 45.
I'm still really enjoying YNAB but agree it can be depressing when it looks like there's money in the bank and it's all been allocated a job!0 -

Have got DH started on surveys so should get some referral bonuses soon. It's boring but if it makes him feel like he's contributing that would be amazing. Target is £300 for Christmas which is seeming very possible.0

Sorry to hear about your OH, it's horrible to not have help or a diagnosis. I follow people on youtube like Texas Fruitarian who "cured" Multiple Sclerosis amongst other things with an overhaul of her diet, it might be radical but maybe worth a shot? There's documentaries like Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead for inspiration. Apologies if me saying this is annoying!
Well done on all the surveys, they all add up!
Enjoy half term!0 -
He may get desperate enough to try anything!0

Had a happy half hour updating YNAB with all the things that have gone out of my account from the weekend. Amused to see 1p interest credited to my savings account, so long since this has happened I was confused at first :rotfl:
I'm struggling with keeping future pots for future. I allocate funds then end up raiding them for things I have forgotten or for 'emergencies'. That's not actual emergencies you understand, it's more overspending on categoriesSo I reallocate the money to another budget. This has got to stop.
YNAB has also highlighted that we spend much less on fuel and much more on groceries than I thought. We stay within budget for our weekly shop then do top up shops of treats and bits we have missed. Yesterday's top up was because we had friends over for supper and I got tonic water, crisps and dips, pudding, YS bread because we had run out, YS crumpets for the freezer and it came to £11.61  Had a fabulous evening and were all absolutely stuffed but I can't help thinking that we could have done better.
Which leads me to my next concern - we are not paying back the cards as fast as I had hoped. At the moment we are paying minimums plus a tiny bit extra on the high interest one. Not good enough.
I get paid on Friday and what I allocate then is going to have to stay allocated. Determined to start getting overpayments going. Things will get a lot easier when we have been to France at end of July. I will then have a proper idea of what I'm getting paid now my hours have reverted back to the old ones. And I will not be trying to put money aside for holiday/passport renewal etc.
Phew! Epic post!0
