I emailed Capital One back and asked them to freeze interest for 12 months after previously ringing them and getting a no. They have immediately frozen all interest and charges and will contact me. So even if it's only for a short while that's a win. Thanks Pooky! I wouldn't have bothered to try again without your message. I'm going to try HSBC again too.0

Pay day tomorrow! Phew, we made it. Pretty tight but good news is pay is higher than I expected. This should now be my revised salary for the next few months. Hours probably changing again in September though!0

Went out for lunch yesterday - after 40 minutes of waiting for our food they confessed the order had not gone through to the kitchen. They took all the food off our bill (£50 between the four of us) and we only paid for drinks. Result! :money:
Spent a bit more than I wanted later in the day but it's all balanced out on YNAB so all good. A really lovely day out (with no kids!). Much needed and all budgeted for.
Things looking ok so far this month. Big expense is obviously our holiday right at the end of the month. Managed to do all this month's bills out of wages and child benefit so universal credit will pay for holiday stuff and any remainder will be allocated to emergency fund etc when we get back. Then August is all about getting set up for the academic year ahead - batch cooking etc. Hoping to squeeze in a family camping trip during one of the weeks. Will be about £150 for the 5 of us for 4 nights as we will go Mon to Fri.
10 more working days then FREEDOM!!!! :j0 -
Hope everything is going well with you and you are enjoying the holiday time0
