Even the governments hand out to "SAVERS" is of no use to me as a disabled person, unable to work more than 10 hours per week to top up my income - you have to work enough hours to pay NI contributions to get the benefits of the 25% "cash back" - worth up to £1200 over 4 years and, since I am over 50 - the "lifetime ISA" scheme is no good for me either !!
With ESA and DLA/PIP being severely reduced - what am I supposed to do ?

They apply to Activities 5 & 6. So toilet aids and aids to help you get dressed are being reduced from 2 points to 1 point. It's basically to stop people getting 8 points and hence the standard rate of PIP care from just using aids and appliances.

Please no offence but that is what they want us to do, sooner or latter. This legislation just means sooner

Will this include walking aids / splints etc
  • Whilst I do not agree with the PIP measures as mentioned in the Budget,, I did hear on the radio that the amount of people claiming disability allowances is rising to unprecedented levels.

How come so many people are becoming disabled?

So whilst I agree it needs to be looked at, it must be done in such a way that those who need it get it.

I personally don't think people who don't have additional costs, or have costs which are funded from another 'pot' should get it, even if they are disabled.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

The entire system is flawed but the government and their advisors haven't a clue what they are doing and keep clumsily grasping at ways to reduce the spend.

I know of one claimant that suffered a heart attack at age 63, took 12 months off work on full/half pay claimed DLA was awarded mid care/high mob they retired at 65 with an occupational pension , back at work full-time and been told they will not need to be reassessed for DLA as they are over 65(67) they haven't needed to see even their GP for 3 years but now have DLA care and mobility care for an indefinite time. Those over 65 should not be left they should be subject to 're assessment the same as others.

More stringent checks with a claimants GP before and after claims would go along way to help route out those who suddenly fall ill again around the time of reassessment.

Maybe medical conditions need to be catagorised and treated according to the group and not individual as they are now....
Will anyone ever have the answer?
