I'm SO jealous.... you'll have a great time  - we're trying to decide where to go next so we can price it up and see if we can afford to go next year or have to wait until 2011. :undecided
(Thinking San Fran/Monterrey/Yosemite maybe into Oregon, possibly up to Seattle? So many places to go..... not enough time/money!)

Rich
Welcome back! :T Thanks for the report Rich, glad you had a good time. Especially loved reading about Yosemite as we will be going there next year! :j How long did it take you to drive there from SF?
The bus tour in LA sounds like the same one we did and we really enjoyed it too. We decided that out of all the places we visited this year San Diego was our favourite, we'd love to go back there for a longer holiday sometime - DD would love to do a weeks surf camp at La Jolla!2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Jackie, thats brilliant....glad it was good for you.
If you want any info on Yosemite let me know.
Where will you be staying in Yosemite? Blue Butterfly?????? Please say you are!!!It was so amazing!!!
SF - Yosemite with stops, approx 5hours I would say, its not very far tbh! But there are lots of stops.
Bus Tour - was the sightseeing Red busses.... with 3 different loops!
SanDiego - We didn't get much time here, what did you like most exactly? We did a bit of old town (just an evening, sure there was more to see, drove to gas lamp and just drove round as couldn't find any parking) and then Sea world!

Jackie: We are doing Yosemite/SF and Monterey on our road trip in July so I will let you know how we find it. We are starting off in Phoenix and flying back 16 days later from LAX going via /Yosemite/Sonorra/SF/Monterey/Morro Bay the LA. We are wanting to go to Universal in LA and was wondering if I should book tickets on line now or if I could do it when we arrive in Phoenix? The Butterfly Inn loooks great, saw funkyfin's recommendation but for July it was $359 a room and we need two!!0

Christa = Unlucky you cant do blue butterfly but if you can push the boat out it is SO SO SO worth it!!!!
In regards to Universal Tix, I have this recommendation, MAKE sure you get FRONT OF LINE PASSES!! They were brilliant, you get straight to front of line to all rides and shows, and on 4 shows you get a back stage pass where you stay behind afterwards and you get to see how things were made and done in the show and meet some of the people in the show! Really cool!!!
We got the tix off the Universal Webby site and they were about $110 but we found when we got there, the same tickets were $99 from the selling desks! Doh! But it could have just been a special offer due to time of year!
I would personally buy online but DEFINETLY buy FRont of Line!!!!
Hope that helps! Any questions please ask!

Thanks Rich, about 5 hours drive is roughly what I'd thought.
Don't know where we'll be staying yet, still researching, but according to Blue Butterfly's website, it's adults only - we will have our daughter with us so that's not an option for us I'm afraid.
Among the things we loved in San Diego were the whale watching trip, driving over the bridge to Coronado (fabulous ice-creams from the Mootime Creamery in the 'Hotel Del'), the whole Mission Bay area (wished we'd had more time to explore here) and SeaWorld, of course, (we preferred the San Diego park to the Orlando one) but our all-out favourite was La Jolla for the surfing and kayaking.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
