We had an ordinary double mattress with a 4inch memory foam topper. We upgraded a few weeks ago to a king size bed frame and mattress from Beds r us.

We bought the Empress memory 1500 mattress (king size) and it is lovely. It has the Cool max memory foam on the top to a depth of about 70cms I think, so there's the benefit of memory foam inbuilt, rather than a separate topper on top. It's much cooler than the previous topper and is very comfy.
It cost about £400 ish reduced from about £600 ish (can't remember without looking it up). Another thing I wanted was a mattress without the buttons sewn in on the top as they're not very comfy (there's a technical name for that but I can't remember! )
Anyway we're glad we had that one, free delivery, nice company, really comfy mattress. Have a look.

Everyone says try before you buy, I've not found a shop yet that will let you spend the night on a mattress.

    Ikea will!

Bought a sultan bed one of their most expensive a while back, they didn't honour their 20 year guarnantee after the bed started to dip after less than 1 year. You have been warned. Their guarantees are worthless.

Said it was fair wear and tear. Me and my wife weight combined less than 120kg. We don't jump on the bed repeatedly like children.

We disputed it twice and twice their inspectors came and they agreed there was an obvious dip but nothing out of the ordinary for a foam mattress. We couldn't sleep on it due to back pain. It was fine for the first part of the year.

Kaymed 1600 is a cracking mattress.

Healthbeds also make a fantastic product.

Sealy is currently owed by Tempur! But made under license by Silentnight of all people. Sealy are not the brand that they used to be that's for sure. Go into any shop and lift one, hardly anything in it.
