Which Kingsize Mattress circa £800

Options
I have a budget of 800 +/- 20% depending on the benfit/reward of spending more or less. Reading which they say 'Sealy Teramo 1400' is the best mattress you can get but I thought Sealy was one of those companies owned by one of the big bed stores and thus the money goes into the advertising/floorspace rather than the product?

Im looking for suggestions, from what ive researched their is a lot of info in the states that suggests the leema matress is best although uk wise i see no info. Harrison is supposedly a good make also? Suggestions appreciated.

Im a reasonable build 5 10 weigh 12 stone and sleep on my side, i do get some shoulder pain occasionally in my joint - most likely as i use a pc all day and its my mouse hand. Im looking for a medium ish mattress possibly pocket sprung with mem foam.

  • Surely a mattress is best tried? Silentnight 3 zone memory foam is a which best buy for around £200.

I personally wouldn't assume the more you pay the better/comfier the mattress will be.

If you're going down the memory foam mattress route try one out before you buy it. I slept at my brother's house on a memory foam mattress and hated it. Hot and sweaty. It doesn't breathe.

Had a foam mattres for under a year. Started to dip permanently got uncomfortable too. It was IKEA though cost quite a bit too.

I would recommend Silentnight brand, I got the Mirapocket premium from benson and beds. I managed to bargain about 100 pounds of the label price by haggling. Threw in some mattress covers too.

Have had it for 2 years and bought another one too.

If they don't budge on price don't forget to mention the cash back from top cashback and you want a it to be beaten. The sales people have commission so it's their interest to buy it off then.

Regardless of what Sealy may or may not do with the money I have never been disappointed with their products.

When we replaced one of their mattresses I emailed them for an equivalent replacement and they provided me with details. The new one was far less than £800 and it is very comfortable.

We recently bought a John Lewis matress in their sale, superking, £1000, they had quite a few on display in store for wife to try, really pleased with it. Suggest you visit stores and try before you buy!

Everyone says try before you buy, I've not found a shop yet that will let you spend the night on a mattress.

I liken sleeping on memory foam to sleeping in a ditch. You get damp & it's really hard to turn over as you have to climb out of the depression you've made.

Our latest purchase was a Harrison Amethyst 4000, we've had it about 2 years & it's as good as any, better than the Sealy we had before.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I'd rather spend £200-£300 on a SilentNight mattress (which I did) and replace it every few years (up to 3 now and it still feels good) for that new mattress feeling than buy an £800 one and need to keep it 3 or 4 times as long for the same kind of value!

    I agree.
We will soon be on our 3rd.
Once you have a mattress cover and sheet on no snobby labels show.

I'm going to go for a Travelodge bed when we change, soon.

Premier Inn sell their mattresses too, but I spent a week staying in a Travelodge and slept like a baby. Right sort of price bracket and they must be built well.

Hotels spend huge amounts of money on mattresses. They definitely don't go for cheap and cheerful. For example a Marriott king size mattress is around £1200 (though you can buy them for a bit less on Amazon).

Hilton mattress alone (without bed frame) is $1800 for the Superking size. https://www.hiltontohome.com/product.aspx?Mattress-Box-Spring
