Well here I am in London now on my 4th week of babysitting duties..which I am thoroughly enjoying...but I thought I would have more time to participate here instead of skim reading whilst having a coffee break. I go home Wednesdays to then catch up with housework which by the end of this week I hopefully will be on top of and in a routine. But I still don't like motorway driving:(
Anyway DH picked up a C+C tonight. I found J20 RTC £1 and whiskey RTC £20 and the APG is favourable v T.
The strange thing is A wanted to charge £3.98 for the J20 DH refused as he said they were in store for £1 so..A refunded him £39.80 then he bought them all back For £10- I originally had £10 off £75 order online which I used so I haven't worked anything out yet but I think I am :rotfl:

Think we are going to go for some from Tile Giant. Seem quite reasonable.
We have been told by our builder best tiles for kitchen floors are porcelain ones, so think we are going for these in natural but this shade is bit darker might do well in hiding muddy paws.

They look nice TS...
I bought kitchen wall tiles from topps tiles last year - order on line and don't forget TCB / Quidco0 -
Know exactly what you mean, TS. Before Dad went into a care home, he had carers four times a day, after a long fight. One of their duties was to cook/provide meals/drinks four times a day. Most of the carers were lovely but their schedule was demanding. I would stock his fridge with 'ready' cooked meals, either bought so date coded or ones that I had cooked for him. I always left a daily meal plan for the carers. Visits were scheduled between 8-11, 11-3, 2-5 and 4-8. Invariably they overlapped so that Dad would have his breakfast at 10.30, lunch at 1.15 and dinner at 3.00. As they were so close together, Dad just couldn't manage his meals. I found that they just took any meal from the fridge, regardless of date. They would use the one that took less time to cook. Each day when I saw him, his file would read 10.30 breakfast, ate well. Lunch 1.15 only half ate his lunch, declined pudding. 3.00 didn't want his dinner. Their last visit, they were not allowed to prepare food for Dad, only a drink.
I would see him at approx 4.30 each day and would clear away his untouched dinner and cook him some dinner. I would always leave a sandwich for him and wrote in the log that Dad hadn't eaten dinner, what I had cooked afterwards and could they offer him the sandwich that was ready prepared in the fridge and record whether he ate it. I found that by asking (in the log) them to record what he ate that they usually made a note. At the beginning, I would just leave a note on a pad making the same request but it was ignored. When I wrote it in their official log, it was noted. Ditto, cleaning ad laundry.
I started to do the same write in mum's log.
Like I said those that have no one to shout out for them are the ones that suffer the worst.
The expectations of carers is much too high with the time they are given, it is no wonder they go for the meals that take less time.
I really don't know what the answer is as people are living longer and many families live much further away from each other than years gone by. It is really worrying...0 -

See Marmite has beat me to it, but glad she paid by credit card. Get her to read the guide, then ring the bank.
Name and shame then! This thread has a HUGE amount of readers, you never know, it may even be something innocent.
Not sure if Marmite had cottoned on to that DM. :rotfl:
Rhosy another one here so glad your DD has paid by credit card, some relief in knowing she will eventually get her money back. But so much to do now to reorganise the day, just horrible for them. How long before the wedding now, I know when I organised my birthday party, I was expected to pay in full 2 weeks beforehand I felt that was about right.0 -

Don't they also have to include travel time in with their visits too? I can't bear to be rushed now never mind how I would feel if I were old or poorly. Thank goodness there's lots of family ready to stand their ground:o:)
No they are not meant to include travel time in their visits TM, this is the problem though the care agencies do not pay for this inbetween visit time and often do not actually allow time to get from one visit to another.0 -
Yes, they do have to include travelling time and I do understand the demands on their time but Dad should have had 4 x 2 hour visits each day. He didn't get it, primarily because they knew that I would be there every day and would take care of him and do the jobs that they said that they didn't have time for. It's the people that don't have family to talk for them that I feel concern/sorry for. Older people just seem grateful for what they receive and most don't want to be a burden on the system.
TM, are you saying that you are not old or poorly?
Travel time shouldn't be included MKS, if care plan says visit should be for 30 minutes then that is how long they should be there for. This was how long they first suggested they could get mum out of bed, no hoist she was still able to stand just, toileted, complete body wash, dried, sheets changed and back in bed or moved to lounge. I managed to get this extended to 45 minutes.
My mum was still sound in mind that if just her face had been washed she would not have felt clean, this was one dignity we could give her until the end especially after lots of leaky bags like LS had.0 -
