Amazon - I was in, my parcel was left at the wrong house and my signature forged!

Basically, I was in, delivery driver goes next door. This neighbour hasn't been around for a while but does tend to order things while she's away and come back to a load of stuff. Later, as time was getting on and no other delivery person had been, I decide to go online and check the tracking. It says the parcel was signed for by a resident and delivered to (my surname.) It turns out that the parcel left on next door's doorstep was mine!

Why don't they try the neighbour (in this case it would have been the right house!) before they just sign for somebody and leave the parcel anyway? Presumably as it was 'signed for' Amazon wouldn't have replaced it if it had gone walkabout. Had it gone through the letterbox, I don't know when I'd have received it as the neighbour is probably away more often than she's here. The correct door number is easily visible on the parcel and both door numbers are clear.

Does anyone know how to contact Amazon to complain about the courier they contracted with? So far I can only find options to leave packaging feedback or return or replace items. I don't know who it was to complain to the courier directly, as it was a plain black transit.

Use the contact option and select chat. Unless you've got a history of missing deliveries or it is a high value item they'll refund (or reorder) with little fuss. Don't distract the issue wanting to complain about the courier, just tell them you've not received the item.

The tracking will show you the carrier name, log into your account and look at your orders.

Given it was an unmarked van and no signature was required, I'm guessing it was Amazon Logistics?

If the courier knew your house was your house, he should have left the parcel outside (or handed to your neighbour). Leaving it on your neighbour's doorstep suggests he got the house number wrong. The error isn't in not trying "the neighbour" (you!) but in getting the wrong property.

Personally, I prefer for AL to let themselves into my block of flats and leave my parcels by my flat door as I don't want them bothering the neighbours. I have far too many Amazon deliveries for them to inconvenience a neighbour each time!

It does say Amazon Logistics on there; I didn't realise they had their own in-house distribution as it were, I just assumed it meant that they contracted out to a courier rather than using Royal Mail.

It won't be a signature that's been forged - basically the driver will have just copied the name from the delivery address and left it. I'm told it's against policy but a lot of drivers will try to leave if they think it looks safe enough, doing the wrong thing for the right reasons mostly.

Let them know and I'd imagine they will take action against the driver for you.

Pretty nasty to expect them to "take action" against someone trying to be helpful.

Perhaps, but they aren't following policy by signing for customers' parcels for them. If they want to be helpful, then they should at least double check that they're trying to deliver to the correct address first.

Mistakes in deliveries occasionally happen so personally I'd let it pass...if it were a regular occurrence for the OP a complaint would be justified.

It seems the op does have the parcel but isn't happy because it went to the wrong house.

If you were out and a parcel could of been put through your box or left in a safe place would you be happy if they signed for it then? Or disgruntled because they had left it and had to spend your time chasing it up and 're-arranging delivery?
