I've just stumbled on this thread out of curiosity, and I'm appalled at how the likes of Abby Solicitors can prey on people that are vulnerable and panicking about their already dire situation!
I'm new to this debt lark but have found an endless supply of help and knowledge from the kind people on this forum.
For goodness sake please listen to the likes of sourcrates and Fermi. They know their stuff, and even I can see its a no brainer!Living a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

Wake up everyone, Abbey Solicitors have paid Compass for your business and now need to make that money and much more in fees out of you!!!. Do not deal with Abbey as you will be putting money straight into the back pocket of the ex Compass directors and his wife Amanda Solloway Conservative Member Of Parliament.
Daily Mail are spot on in blowing this wide open as these people were reported back in 2011 to OFT with damning info and they and the FCA chose to do nothing and the directors have spirited away all the money as predicted.
Does anyone else not think it a bit odd that other papers are yet to pick up this story about theft and an MP? Are the party suppressing this story? Who knows but what I do know is .....
Hardly any of your money has been going to your creditors, it has gone into your client account which doesn't exist and never did (it was just a paper excersize and I bet your monthly statement never mentioned the regular missed payments that disappeared), paying your sizeable fee, paying ten percent of all monies paid in including money paid in fees ....you couldn't make this up!, compass protection plan (life insurance that pays commission to Compass), PPI claims on your behalf for a fee, will writing you were told you had to have and there was no fee for but your client account was debited £250
Until finally as the expected end game for them closed in and they had kept your monthly payment instead of giving anything at all to your creditors these parasites in a final bid to squeeze a little more out of very vulnerable people, they thought to themselves "Hey, we could get a big fat cheque under the table from Abbey Solicitors as a Bon Voyage gift strictly off the books".
For those in debt trouble contact a free service as mentioned above and my heart goes out to you...
Please contact the Daily Mail as they are going to expose those involved and pass on their findings to the Police / Fraud Squad.0 -
Someone effected get something going on Facebook as I searched Compass and there is nothing about this anywhere for others in trouble who are searching for others.
Contact your local MP and express your outrage at one of their own and at the FCA who gave Compass 5 additional years to steal from you after damning evidence was provided to them that should have shut them down the same day.0 -
Is anyone going to the creditors meeting on 21st March? Are you aware that as creditors we are entitled by law to form a creditors "liquidation committee" comprising of 3-5 creditors who will monitor proceedings on behalf of all creditors?
Once the administrators and liquidators have all taken their cuts i.e. £6,000 to prepare a "Statement of Affairs" and organise and pay for the meeting PLUS £12,0000 fixed fee to actually liquidate the business PLUS they also take 40% of whatever recoverable assets they actually manage to recover for the business there will be little if anything left over for us.
HOWEVER...surely there is some legal body we can collectively lobby to represent us all who can look to take our a civil claim against the directors of the business or better still bring the to justice in a court of law for blatant fraud? To me, even the governing body who was supposed to be policing them has completely failed all of us - are you going to let them get away with that??0 -
Am I the only one finding it a bit strange all the newly registered posters on this thread? On the one hand I can understand they would be new to this site as if they were not there is no way they would be paying for a DMP. Its a sad story and fee charging DMP companies should not be allowed, along with companies charging for PPI claims, power of attorney etc etc but it just seems a bit odd all these new members in this thread???I'm a greenfield sight for sore eyes, and sore eyes are just needing the light, the shapes, and the shadows of the space we share, before it splits into Thin Air.0

Regular members would not be entertaining companies such as this, as they would, hopefully, have been made aware of the pitfalls of doing so.

Hi all
If it helps influence any customers of Compass who are still unsure of how to proceed, let me please add National Debtline's voice to those recommending that
you seek free, independent advice immediately.
Please forget solicitors, fees, agreements etc. - just get advice from one of the debt charities e.g. National Debtline, Stepchange, Citizens Advice. We do not want to see anyone affected losing another penny.

I understand people are desperate. Being scammed once is dreadful but I hope people don't make the same mistake twice
If you are affected by this please call a debt charity such as national debtline or stepchange or your local cab.

One of the Directors of the Company is married to Amanda Solloway who is the Tory Derby North MP who sits on the Business Studies Committee for the House of Commons & has co-written a book how to run a business & build trust.
What a joke!!!
Given her role within politics , How can she say she had no dealings within her husbands company & knew nothing of the problems within. i am raising a petition in the Daily Mail asking for her resignation , Everyone involved & all family/friends etc please buy the paper this week & sign the enclosed petition to try & reign some misery & stress on their happy lives too.
Thanks
Is there any way to sign the petition online? I couldn't see any link on the Daily Mail website. The local press in her constituency are treading carefully with the story, comments are disabled and there's no mention on the Facebook page. Along with many of her constituents I am outraged.0
