Do you really not know that once England was a slave society where the majority were not free to move between London and Loughborough?....
Interesting. I said that there had been "100% free movement of people between London and Loughborough since time immemorial". Is there some reason why you believe that is not exactly what I meant?
Do you really not know that time immemorial is a specific point in time? (1189 to be exact, I'll google the exact date if you're interested.) Your knowledge of history must be truly "appalling" if you don't know that....Good to know that we both agree that the free movement of people should be restricted.....
Interesting. I have said no such thing in this thread...I support free trade between countries : one of the many reason I object to the EU with its long history of tariff walls against the majority of world's countries but in particular I object to the barriers set against the poor developing countries.
But the free movement of people is free trade. You can't claim to be in favour of one and against the other.0 -
do you favour a 100% free movement of people?
Yes I think it's a good ideal to work towards. I see Europe generally as being one step in that direction. With rights need to come responsibilities of course and the devil is in the detail but as an ideal, yes.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0 -

I have no idea what you are saying
1. Are you in favour of the free movement of people?
2. are you in favour of the free trade in goods and services
3. The distinction between goods, service and people is useful :
trade is 99.99% of the time taken to be related to goods and services and not to the movement of people (except by way of slavery)0 -

Given the situation today, are you in favour of unrestricted movement of people?
If you are not, then what is your criteria for limited movement?0 -

That time immemorial is a specific date in the year 1189. Was that unclear in any way?....

Trade consists of organising capital and labour to produce goods and services. Trade is free when all of these can move around the place unhindered. As they can within the UK.
To go back to the original question; do you object to the free movement of people between London and Loughborough?0 -
Sorry, I may have missed some subtle economic point here, but surely you know the difference between unrestricted travel within one country and between two distinct countries with distinct laws?
I've worked in countries that required visas (USA and Poland before it joined the EU) and it really wasn't the end of the world. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

I don't ever drink before about 7 in the evening, so I'll delay any other comments until later.0 -
I think when I first joined this forum it was around the 2008 "crash" and there were quite a few threads on whether London would survive the imminent financial apocalypse.
London has survived invasions, civil war, religious violence, plague, fire, the Blitz etc so I'm fairly confident it can cope with leaving the EU.They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
Your knowledge of UK history is appalling.
I do not support the free movement of all the people of the world :
do you?
People travelled the world for decades without the concept of a national border. Until Europeans start to conquer the world and erect barriers free movement was the norm!Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
