MSE News: 'I made £800 switching bank again and again.'

The T&Cs had been tightened up long before last October/November.0

The article suggests that to qualify for a First Direct switching bonus, you "Can't have switched to First Direct before" whereas their website states "This offer is only available for people who haven't previously held any account with First Direct...". Subtle but important difference?0

First Direct's T&C are the ones which apply - not MSE's (or anyone else's) interpretation of them;)0 -
I've never done this before but with me being on maternity leave and money being low in keen to try it.
I noticed you all saying that the account you switch was a secondary account how does that work with the minimum deposit every month. Can you transfer the 750 or 1000 back out into your main account and if so how often does the money need to stay in the account for? Sorry if I sound stupid I've never done this before0 -
How have people managed to switch to the same bank and get the reward multiple times?0

How long does your salary have to stay in your account before you can draw it out? I'd suggest that this was the same length of time.
Check the T&Cs so you know which accounts have which requirements as they are different between banks.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
So technically I could transfer it from a joint account and then not spend any of it and transfer it back a week later?0

If you so wished yes. My salary tends to spend less time than that in my accountRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Brilliant thanks so much! Do you find it easier to open the accounts over the phone or in branch?0
