Anyways, my list for today is:
Dog walks Done
Check banks (not done this for a few days) Done the one that doesn't need me to get the fiddly thing out to generate a code
Housework- bathroom at the very least! Done the bathroom - only
Sow tomato seeds Not done
Polish coffee table - we have a yew one made by OH which is lovely, but looking a bit dull and scratched Not done, mainly because OH has absconded with my lavender polish  When he gives it back, I will do this!
Go to sales unit to see if anything needed Nothing needed today, will need a major sort out later this week though. Walked for free exercise
Go to post office to post a RM surveys parcel Done
HM meals, but not a NSD unfortunately as I forgot to buy a couple of things yesterday  Not an impressive total of NSDs for FebruaryDone
Any online surveys, check FPL Done
Babysitting this afternoon Done
Not as much done as I had hopedAnother day tomorrow I suppose!
Dawn I had a little giggle when I read your comment about the suit your hubby bought - the things men do when we leave them unsupervised :rotfl: what will you do?
I don't know Ziggy  It is at the dry cleaners at the moment. I will revisit when it comes back. If I make too much fuss, he will dig his heels in and insist on wearing it whatever. And I can't do anything about this because he is (loads) bigger than me :rotfl:
It is annoying though, if he needs any new clothing for his hobbies (golf, country sports etc) he will buy it, and it isn't cheap  But if he isn't interested, then any old thing will do0 -
Just caught part of a programme on channel 4 called Super Shoppers. Some interesting bits about washing powders and how powder is cheaper than the capsules but actually cleans better (I use powder anyway), although capsule stop colours fading so much. Might see if I can catch the rest on catch up. Also said that certain products for women are more expensive but just the same as those marketed at men!
Good result when I cam home, OH's boss has given him a load of toothpaste samples - please bear in mind my OH is a builder! Apparently boss' gf had a load as works for the NHS or something!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,435.00
Total paid off - £10,165.89 (65% paid off)0 -
Late check-in from me today. Not a NSD as mobile hairdresser came to do my barnet (although it was £7 cheaper than I expected). I also bought a random selection of things off EBay I've been meaning to get (electric toothbrush heads, hub caps and a guitar wall mount! All for under £30 though)
Music Magpie emailed to say just under £50 will be in my bank account tomorrow from the old DVDs I sent in last week. This is earmarked for the wedding pot
OH made a big vat of Thai chicken curry - 20 portions costing about £18 to make so these have been boxed, labelled and put in the freezer
We had a big sort out yesterday evening as we discovered that under the bed had gone mouldy  I bleached then painted the wall and we've left enough of a gap to hoover down in future. He had a lot of PC and gaming stuff under the bed which is now stacked in the bedroom (we have a tiny flat). He has listed some stuff on EBay and chucked an old bust computer. There is still loads of stuff though! I find it difficult living in such a small cramped spaceWhen I moved in I sold most of my belongings and found it very liberating, I'm just trying to persuade him to take a few steps in that direction and make some pennies in the process
Wrapped Mam's Mother's Day presents and wrote card. Will post these tomorrow using a wombled envelope from work
All meals from stores and FPL checked
Night all x02 0% £719.20 £559.36
Creation 1 0% £1,829.88 £1,307.43

Evening all
Thanks for all of the wonderful advice re the door. I'm afraid that it's me that has a go at anything house related rather than OH. To be honest I hadn't thought about trying to repair - it's fairly rotten but it's probably worth a go. I have no idea what to fill wood with though, but I'll research.
Late finish for me - I have been catching up with a friend, but not gotten much else done. It was worth it though.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »

You'd use wood filler. (Link)Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

OK, if it is a wooden door, you would not get a frame with it, it is a separate part. If it is the bottom of the frame which is rotten, a decent carpenter could replace just that part, which should be a lot cheaper and less disruptive to get done than a new door frame plus fitting etc. He would do this by cutting out the rotten area and inserting a new, matching piece of wood. And once painted, you should not be able to notice the repair unless you inspect it closely. If it is just a small hole, then use wood filler as Ally suggests, otherwise ask around among your friends and neighbours for a recommendation of a decent carpenter / handyperson who could repair it. Thanks to OH for the above information - I tackle a lot of the household repairs, but wood type things he always does, as that is his business (so I would bend his ear if he didn'tplus he wouldn't be able to bear my amateurish efforts :rotfl:)
