Error in DOB in recent application

They probably won't, but in the unregulated world of CIFAS there's nothing to stop them doing so. This board is littered with examples of people making honest mistakes and then being shafted with misreporting at the CRAs and worse. That's why you need to get an undertaking from them. Ask them the question directly; hopefully they will answer it.
When the underwriting team gets in touch I will discuss with them but it could take 7-14 working days but I hope it doesn't take that long.:(0 -
Ok thanks I'm sure I'm not the only person out there who's made an error. The application was referred and I'm guessing that was the reason why! I will contact them in the morning and see what they advise. :-)
I doubt you being referred has anything to do with your DOB being 1 digit out. I've had the wrong DOB entered, even had one application whereby they changed my sex :rotfl: but in both cases the applications went through fine.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. That made me chuckle lol! Sometime my applications get refered because I've got a CIFAS entry where someone tried to take out credit in my name. Some lenders want to ask more information just to check its me applying. so if it's not the DOB issue its that! Thanks for the reassurance :-)0 -
Do you really think they could add a CIFAS entry for a genuine error I know it's my own fault but it would be very harsh of them to do that. I just thought the underwriter would just amend the date and perhaps ask for passport or something to prove it.??
No you won't get a CIFAS marker. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
This is a genuine mistake and I'm sure won't be a problem. I've had lenders get my name wrong and I've had to correct them. Got on to my credit files too but no damage and soon corrected once I pointed it out.0

Hi,
The similar happened with my other half when she made am application for C/A to N&P. Just because the date did not match they registered Application fraud CIFAS.
We did make a complaint at the end they did agree to remove the CIFAS entry.
They can clearly see she has no problem with her credit history never missed a payment no defaults CCJs etc and correct dob was used on all previous applications. A quick phone call could have resolved the issue but they decided to put a CIFAS on and decline the application.

This is the sort of "shoot first, ask no questions" abhorrent attitude that I was referring to earlier. Because CIFAS is unregulated, and because financial services providers are institutionally deceitful, you cannot be too careful when dealing with them.0 -

This is shocking, having a CIFAS entry would destroy your credit for 6 years it's worse than a bankruptcy IMO!
I'm glad my issue was sorted without any fuss! I will be double checking any further applications with a fine tooth comb!0 -
May seem a strange question, but why are you assuming you made the mistake? Have you a copy of the application you made with the wrong DoB on it? Was it an online application?
If this happened to me I would simply assume the CC provider had made a mistake copying my DoB from the application form.Optimists see a glass half full
