Should I inform insurance?

Sounds like i'm gna be contacting my insurance tomorrow then! I bought the dashcam for this exact situation, could be the best 60quid I ever spent !
And sleazy (apt name :P) whiplash has late onset symptoms but I seriously doubt this impact caused me any harm, I'm most definitely not the type to exaggerate for the purpose of a claim.Started 07/15. Car finance £6951 , Mortgage: 261k - Savings: £0! Home improvements are expensive0 -
Out of interest, did you let him know you had caught the incident on a dashcam?0

I did indeed Chris, I offered to send him the footage in the event it turns in to a claim. It should almost definitely stop him trying to counter the claim or try for shared responsibility.Started 07/15. Car finance £6951 , Mortgage: 261k - Savings: £0! Home improvements are expensive0 -
Another vote here for informing your insurance and the police. There was no legitimate reason for the driver to start reversing like that.0

Initially looking at the footage it looked to me like he'd missed the junction and tried to reverse back for it, so to my mind not a deliberate, however once he got home and thought about it he may have been calling his insurance company up saying you rear ended him, so a well spent £60.
As he knows you have footage i doubt he'd try to blame you now with his insurance, by the letter of your policy etc you have to inform your insurance of any accidents, however in this situation i dont know if i'd let him pay for the damage or if i'd tell my insurance and let them deal with it.0 -

It's just you - they work fine on my BT Infinity 1 connection.0 -
Yes, in case something comes back to bite you.
I also agree with the advice to inform the Police in case this is a regular trick. That is poor driving in a van that might not be roadworthy. It appears to lack a functioning drivers side door mirror and any rear view mirror is blocked by the rear doors. The video doesn't show whether a left door mirror is in place.
Your car might have been a cyclist or a pedestrian.
You have his number plate, EK55 UPO.
It is taxed and has an MOT according to this. (add reg number and Vauxhall)
I believe that you can check the insurance status on line for a small fee.0 -

I was told that one of the reasons for so many Russian drivers having dash cams is pedestrians making claims against them
If you look on You Tube there is the odd clip of a pedestrian throwing themselves in front of a car.
One that made me laugh was when the car had actually stopped, then the Ped threw himself onto the bonnet and slid to the floor.
The driver got out, spoke to the Ped and pointed to the DashCam then the Ped got up and walked off.
Certainly seems like £60 well spent.
Nobody can argue with your footage.0 -
Why didn't you just go round him?0

Whats your make of dash cam please? I really do need to get one after seeing this, been toying with it for months. My first thought was he had missed the junction too, but I can see it potentially being a crash for cash also. How long was you driving behind him for he must have seen you in a mirror at some point. What a moron.0
