Should I inform insurance?

Hey guys,
A couple of hours ago a guy reversed into me on a standard road. I can't fathom why he was reversing but he did, and has left a small dent and a few small scratches on my front bumper. It doesn't seem significant from the outside and I plan on getting a quote from a local body shop, but from the image and video would you suggest my insurance needs to know? He was very cooperative giving me his name and phone number (assuming they're real).
Also considering his vehicle is a van with no rear view mirror, it may not be an MOT passable vehicle considering the wing mirror is also hanging off

Thanks in advance

I'd report it to your insurance company and claim on his insurance.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Just have to inform insurance. Call me a cynic but if he pops up shortly with whiplash and damage to van you'll be in the mire.0

I did make sure he knew I had a dash cam so I think he'd be a bit mental to try that :rotfl:Started 07/15. Car finance £6951 , Mortgage: 261k - Savings: £0! Home improvements are expensive0 -
Looks like a fraudulent rear end claim to me. Lucky you had the dash cam. Easy whip lash claim there because "you ran into the back of him".0

Agree with above. He mighr have been trying to get personal injury claim on your insurance. Definitely report it to insurance along with the video and possibly police just so you have made them aware if he is going around doing it to loads of people.0

And what will you do if they aren't? The law requires him to provide his name and address, and those of the vehicle owner. For your own protection, you should always get them.0 -
dont just report it to his/your insurance report it to the Police too. If not deliberate which it does look like then it is certainly driving without due care and attention.

Another vote for informing the Insurance.
People are sometimes extremely nice and then their story changes when they think being nice will cost them money or by lying they can make some money.0 -
[rant] Unbelievable..... I have to use my VPN to see the video+image. Anyone else on a BT connection? [/rant]
I would say be as careful as possible here, could easily turn into a fraudulent claim.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Are you sure you haven't got any whiplash from him reversing into you?I agree with Kev - could easily be a fraudulent claim scam, which could be why the van driver doesn't want to go through insurance.
Makes me think that I should get a dash cam :think:0
