To make it less daunting I split it per item and tomorrow I finish paying back item No.2. Then only No.3. left, which is as much in £ as 1+2, but I felt a real sense of achievement as I paid the others off even if the figure for no.3 is a little bit daunting!

Thanks KxMx I like the idea of separating the debt into items and tackling them one at a time. I wish I had savings to borrow from :( I've never had savings in my life. That's one thing I'm so pleased I set up for my son when he was born so he at least has some money when he hits 18 to start him off although he is well aware he has to use the money for something specific e.g towards first car or deposit for renting that kind of thing not just splurged silly nilly on Xbox games and nights out lol.

I've also told him that when he starts working o will match his first months pay and put it in his bank so that he can always be living a month in advance not pay check to pay check like I do. Hopefully I will be in the position financially to do that for him by the time he starts working.im determined he won't have the same debt problems I'm having.

I've decided I spend WAAAAAAYYYYYYY too much time on my phone reading things on here, completing surveys and that kind of thing. i quit Facebook months ago and that helped a lot because I found myself constantly scrolling my news feed (who knows what I was looking for) I never found it!
But I do think I've maybe replaced FB with this forum. So I'm going to try and cut down on some of the time I spend on my phone as I don't think it's brilliant for my mental health.
Not sure how much sense that will make to ppl lol but just writing down my thoughts.
I want to start doing nice things with my spare time rather than just sat on my phone all the time eg I love to bake so would like to do more of that kind of thing :) my phone is a real time sucker I find myself thinking the times gone so quick and I've just wasted the time reading on my phone with Nothing really to show for that time.

  • Not a lot going on in the world of money saving today. I went Aldi & morrisons for some shopping. I spent £33 which is a bit over my budget but I did buy washing powder, softner and washing up liquid which will hopefully last me the month. Oh and light bulbs! I got some bargains in Aldi with the super six chillis, broccoli, lettuce, carrots and celery 29p each. I also got a couple of yellow sticker bargains 4 tiger bread rolls for 9p and a big loaf of tiger bread sliced 9p so that will do my lunches at work for the next two weeks hopefully.
Had a pretty frugal dinner of homemade pork casserole from my freezer and aunt Bessie's roast parsnips from the freezer (they were quite nice actually)
I'm hoping to not have to buy any more food shopping 1-2 weeks.
I've got £50 left to last me until pay day 15th fingers crossed no unexpected expenses before then!! Aiming to get to the 15th in the black!!! Okay i won't have anything left over to over pay on my debt but small steps!!! This month get to pay day in black, then concentrate on staying within my £100 shopping budget and try and reach my goal of £5 a day in March. If I manage to reach those two goals I might have some money to over pay my debts next month :)

Well done on the YS bargains Popstess :T Don't sweat about the slightly budget overspend, you weren't buying champagne and caviar (unless they were YS too :rotfl:) so hopefully the budget will even itself out over the next few weeks.

Dinner sounds yummy, did DS eat the same?

Bargain on the light bulbs, I keep putting off replacing ours, if we have one more go on the landing then we'll be in darkness on the stairs

  • Funny you should say that there was caviar in Aldi! DS pointed it out I didn't buy any though lol and I didn't look to see how much it was.

Nooo lol he didn't eat that had to make him something sepetate no chance he'd eat casserole too saucy and mixed together.
We did have a chat yesterday though and I explained to him that as money's tight I could do with saving money on the food shopping and one good way would be if he could eat more of the same meals as me and he did say he would try more things so fingers crossed can get him eating a few more meals the same.
I've got sausages out of the freezer for tomorrow's dinner and going to steam some veg I bought in Aldi and some sweet potato mash something we'll both eat.

Hello  debt busting update. After saying yday I hoped I didn't have any unexpected expenses I did! Argh! rookie mistake! I had forgotten about my contact lenses £25! I know you can get them cheaper online but it's my first time trying so wanting to get them from the opticians first time these should last me ages anyway as they're dalies and I only plan on using them occasionally.

When I went to pick up my contacts I was sooooo tempted to run in greggs for my lunch but no I told myself I would wait and have what I already had in.

Had a lovely dinner from the freezer (thank you past self for making yummy meals for the freezer lol)

Smashed day one of make £5 a day challenge selling DS's game (he had 2) for £15 woop woop!!! :D:D:D

In other news 14 days until pay day hoping I can stay in the black until then.

Isn't it annoying when things like that crop up Popstess - I forgot my car tax was due as there's no longer that handy disc in the car to remind me. Sounds sensible getting them from the opticians first time trying them.

Big well done on resisting Greggs (is it me or has some of their stuff got quite expensive? I used to think they were 'cheap' vs M&S / Boots etc but now some of their rolls etc seem on par - in fact last time I went in for something - which is a rarity, I walked out and bought a baguette with a sandwich filler instead).

Glad the freezer dinner was yummy, I must confess we had some not so good news today which threw our dinner plans out of the window and OH got emergency fish n chips for us. Must channel your positive attitude after spending most of the day in tears - which has achieved giving me a headache and little else. :o

Congrats on the £5 a day target too :T:T

Hi Kerri sorry to hear you have had bad news, sometimes you have to allow for chip shop at times like that.

I now pay my car tax monthly so much better for me not having to find the full amount at the end of the year.

Thank you!! I'm pleased, if it wasn't for the challenge I wouldn't have even tried to sell the game it's defintley very motivating!

I was so close to ordering a new phone today!! Mine is due for an upgrade but I just got a sim only deal I could get a new one for £22 a month more than I'm paying now and I wanted one so much!!! BUT i thought no I can not afford £22 more a month.

I decided to make a "wish list" on my phone for things I want but can't afford that might sound like a silly thing to do but I thought it would give me something dream for and aim to get debt free for, not that ill go out and buy everything when I do get free because I know that would get me back into debt (I'm learning)
