  • I am going to back up it was my choice with a valid reason for quitting my job that the employer will not questioned. I am also going to stop referring to my brief period of unemployment as a career break.
The comments on this forum have been very helpful thank you everyone. 👏🏻😊

I've been in this situation a couple of times before and simply said my contract had ended. It was true - I ended it. It was never a problem at interviews.

When you said that the contact ended did they ask more questions?

Why do you keep trying to make this more complicated?. It makes no difference what a different interviewer asked someone else who applied for a different job. If the person interviewing you asks the question what would you say? Why give an interviewer opportunities to think you are being dishonest or trying to hide something?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
  • I am not trying to make things difficult and will tell the truth when I speak to the interviewer because I have nothing to hide. I have taken everyone comments onboard.

I just wanted to hear how other people dealt with same situation.

I think that reason that they are probing is because the roles are similar to role that I left. I think that I am going to say that I took some time to travel for few months. I also did courses for self improvement. I am going to state that I chose to leave my job of my own accord and my references will confirm this.

I'm an employer, small business 22 staff, and if someone said they'd decided to take 3 months because they wanted to, I wouldn't bat an eyelid. I'd probably say lucky you, and you'd say, it gave me a chance to take a holiday and do a few courses.

Honestly I personally don't see it as an issue.

The issue you have is you have to convince people that there were not issues at work.

I don't think you have convinced many here that there was not some issue, bigger than just there was stuff in the job you did not like.

Even that is a negative, all jobs have dull bits we would prefer not to do so we either just get on with them or manage them out, not leave.

That would be a red flag.

I think the truth over the job side is a problem and all the waffle, travel training etc. is not helping.

reference won't help as more often than not they will say the same even if pushed.

I appreciate your comments but I now know how to answer the question in the correct way. I am not worried because there are people who have been out of work for 10 years and still get jobs so 3 months should not be a major problem.

If a employer has issues with me not having a job for 3 months then they are not the employer for me. The job interview is not just about the employer choosing me it is also about me choosing the employer as well.

With actors it's called "resting" and everybody knows that, unless you're a superstar, it means unemployed.

I forgot superstars are completely different to the average person. Even kanye West is in 53 million of debt........but no hes just been "resting" for the past 3 years.

Why does society say we have to be working ALL THE DAMN TIME? If someone has savings and wants to live off that - thats their choice. If someone wants to go travelling - thats their choice. If people are supporting themselves its nobodies business, unemployment has negative connotations and you know nothing about the OPs situation. A positive approach to this is whats needed.

I'm all for people having choices and not just living to work but you have to accept that certain choices will have certain effects and you can't complain if others view your choices in a less positive way than you do and if they have a more negative effect than you'd expected.
