OK I will say unemployed but what if they ask me why I left my job without another one to go. That seems to coming up in all of my interviews. I should not have to explain my financial position to them.
They're not asking about your financial position. People don't generally leave jobs without good reason. They want to know your reason.0 -
OK change of direction is fine but they are questioning why I left the role without a new one to go to.0
-
So because I have not given them a good enough reason they think that I am hiding something.0

I;d just say you knew you wanted to leave and it was very hard to schedule interviews etc so easier to leave and then job hunt. Or you knew you had to finish off one project and go before the next one (or tie to doing year end and then time to move on).0

Might be that; they might think you're a flight risk; or they might just not believe the reason you're giving.
For example, if you used to work for MacDonalds, and you're now applying for a shiny new and different career at Burger King, the interviewer is going to be sceptical.0 -
Are the courses related to the industry you want to get in to? You could style it as taking time out to learn skills that could give you a boost in your new career?0

The roles that I applying for are what I have previously done and have many years experience in. They are also professional roles not McDonald's 😳 The previous role that I left was related to my experience but there was additional duties that I had to do which I was not experienced in. It became clear to me that the job was not a good fit for me which is why I left.
The employers that I am interviewing with are happy with my experience. The issue is why I left my last job.0 -
I have experience in the roles that I am applying for so I do not need the courses for any jobs.
The main reason for doing courses was to show that I was doing something while I was unemployed.0 -

Well you have sold me.......
So in short what has your time off given you to potential employers over someone who has stayed in work and is also applying?0 -
My time out has given me a fresh outlook. I also think that I will be more refreshed and motivated when I go back to work.0
