Wednesday 24th Feb - What small DFW things will you do today?

Evening all
(waves weakly)
Grandma day today, and GD was poorly and clingy, poor little thing, so tired grandma tonight! Really cold here, though sunny and pleasant for a while late morning / early afternoon
Very small list and uninspiring today
:
Porridge and yogurt with HG fruit from freezer for breakfast
Entertained GD for free
Had heating on today for GD, but off now and wood burner alight, with kettle on top
Posted DS's birthday card using a free stamp from RM surveys (or rather GD did)
Made a spicy fruit loaf in the BM
OH cooked supper from stores :T
OH did both dog walks :A
Googled the £20 coat I bought yesterday and the rrp is £249 . It is in as new condition, so a real bargain :T
Small spend, took up an offer from Thompson and Morgan and got all the summer flowering plants I will need above and beyond what I already have (lavender and petunia plugs) for £12 odd for loads of them, including postage. Lavender will come again in future years too, so long term money saving :T
Done some surveys, and checked FPL
MTC, ((hugs)) we have all been there. If you have a freezer full of food you are well prepared :A - you sound pretty sorted, but if you are not sure what to make with seemingly odd combinations of ingredients, we can come up with plenty of suggestions as we are old hands at that :rotfl: It will be fine (been there more than once, still here
)
Right, off to make coffee, and must do better tomorrow :eek:0 -
Freebies:
Soup:
Print a voucher from New Covent Garden Soup Co to get £1 off any soup flavour in store at all major supermarkets. Coupons are valid for 30 days from printing. The soup is reduced to £1 in Asda so with this coupon you'd get it for free. (Link)
Pizza:
Free pizza for customers who shop online at Tesco. (Link)
Thanks for these.
I think we have a free pizza to come from Iceland, if I remember the email I got the other day so that's handy.
Will defo print the soup one off. I don't stop at Tesco.
Will definitely look into complaining too as they really dragging their heals.DMP Started June 20160 -

Thank you so much. It should leave me in a much better position next month as I am always using credit or chasing or borrowing and this time it's just not possible. But sets me up to start March clean and fresh with finances. And then get some emergency savings (hopefully) before I set my DMP up. Just feel so foolish letting this month run away from me

Morning all :hello: thanks for starting, hope work isn't too bad
Today will be looking like this:
Man coming to show us some carpets/flooring. If reasonable will sort and pay from house pot - didn't turn up grrrrrrr:mad: what is it about trades people, don't they want the work - this is the 2nd one
Check banking surveys, FPL - done plus £72 £co withdrawn
Working from home so no commute
Opticians this afternoon -
Meals from store - done
Heating doesn't seem to be working
thermostat currently saying 14. Will have a look when I've warmed up after my coffee DH got it working but will need to call them out hopefully can wait until after payday
Think that's all, have a good day folks.
I need to see if we can find DH V5, we haven't had a renewal for his tax but my trusty sheet tells me it's due
however, you need the code off the renewal or the v5 or you have to pay an extra £25
Make - the -change have you got flour, sugar, marg/butter so you can make some biscuits for snacks in. Search this site for twinks hobnobs - they're legendary and so easy to make (kids can help too) the recipe makes loads - my smalls love them (making and eating
) Stick with it and keep posting here and you'll be fine 0 -
:grouphug: MTC - I know that feeling... Do you have one of those cash for clothes places? I was gobsmacked to get just over a tenner for two binbags of clothes. Also echo what Ally said about Jack Monroe's site. There are some brilliant frugal recipes on there. They also put an excellent recipe on FB this morning for 'f*** you truffles' - which really suited my mood.
Ziggy - thinking of you. I'm pleased that things are looking a bit better with the family.
I'm pleased to report my day has picked up and I'm far more like my old self again. Not sure why as it's been another difficult and pointless day at work. I did get an email back from the Head that was both reassuring and 'f** you' at the same time - I'm focussing on the reassuring bit.
I confess to giving in to a cheap and very nasty takeaway for dinner tonight. I hadn't prepped anything and it was a post 6pm finish. The kids were happy but I'm a bit annoyed with myself. Only £5.99 though, and paid for from my TCB payout that arrived this morning (£81)crazy_cat_lady wrote: »

MTC, I messaged quidco support yesterday and this morning they had sorted my problem and the money had moved so that I could claim it. Definitely worth a message to them,
Everyone elses ideas are great, the only things I can think to add are
Look into Shopitize & Checkoutsmart, usually manage to get a freebie a week if you can shop around.
You mentioned hm soup, I often pad out our soup by cooking some pasta and making it into a pasta bake, with a bit of cheese on top it usually ends up being a tasty meal.
Great idea with the soup. OH prefers creamy sauces so creme fraiche for him. Doesn't like tomato based sauces like me but eats tomato soup :rotfl: so I can surely get a couple of meals out the soup for myself and the kiddies :j
You have all been so helpful. Sorry if I haven't thanked everyone personally. It's been hectic at home with three children, ironing, dinner, my worrying plus suffering with severe headaches too. Will get to the docs tomorrow and try go after 3pm so can use OHs bus pass as he has a monthly. More moneysaving! :jDMP Started June 20160
