Transitional arrangements were provided in the 3rd reading of the 2011 Act at a cost of £1.1bn.
Tory MPs were the only ones to actually come up with costs based on the both the 2011 Act and the Waspi "ask".
6 options proposed by Owen Smith and not one costed out. 4 out of those 6 options were actually debated fully during the 2011 Act and all were defeated. One of the Tory MPs, Nadine Dorries, who yesterday voted Aye actually voted against those 4 options back in 2011. Seems she has changed her tune now but again provided no insight as to what she actually would propose. If you think this is a waste of time wait until the real facts about the new "fixed rate" state pension emerge.
Well I have read both the green and white papers on the new state pension so I'm not really expecting any surprises.0 -
What happens next?
The government could offer loans at student loan interest rates to all men and women within nine months of their state pension age, capped at their state pension income for those nine months, repayable over 15 years. Then those who really are poor enough to need protection could get it from the means tested benefit on the repayments. The rest would retain the option at their own ultimate expense to retire nine months sooner than they are currently entitled to.0 -
But looking on the bright side, we haven't had this much fun since the Scottish Independence referendum!0

Did they have twenty separate threads started by staff/officials as well? I must have missed them. One of the Tory MPs, Nadine Dorries, who yesterday voted Aye actually voted against those 4 options back in 2011.
