Car not the spec I thought I was buying

But does the colour of the callipers really effect the spec of the car though with regards to how quick it will get you from A to B?
Speak to your insurance company as I would say technically it's not an aftermarket change it's something they forgot to do when you purchased it. Pus if all your paperwork indicates they should have been on there as standard and you get a letter from the company advising of their error in the event of the claim it might be ok
Is that the only thing people consider when buying a car? From what OP has said, I suspect that colour is an option - just not on factory standard models (in other words, its available at additional cost). If that is the case, they can hardly argue that its insignificant if they recognise that people will pay more to have it.
If OP also went to the trouble to check and get in writing that it would come with red calipers as standard, its also possible proof that it was important enough to him to not have purchased what he did.You keep using that word. I ordered a factory build car and was advised in writing that the vehicle came with red brake calipers as standard. The vehicle arrived without red calipers. After making a complaint the car manufacturer advised me that the advice in writing (from their own customer service team) of the caliper colour was wrong and they apologised for this.
They have now asked me how I wish to proceed as changing the calipers is not an after market solution they can offer. I don't really know what to suggest, what are my chances of getting a replacement vehicle to the spec I thought I was getting?
You need to reject the car immediately as not being the spec you asked for.
(I am assuming that you have not used it yet and got it today or in th last 24 Hours or so??)
You could always contact Renault UK, as they have excellent customer service. Request a call back.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Yes, I understand that but this is the OP's concern, nothing to do with the dealership, and tbh if they were advertised as having them as standard equipment I really can't see they would be classed as a modification anyway.
Previously on here, people have posted websites where you can check what specifications a car had when it left the factory. Actually specific to your very car (rather than manufacturer "basic" model specs).
I'm guessing that the calipers wont be listed on that and so even if they modify it to what could have been factory standard, its not going to match the factory specs for that particular vehicle. You keep using that word. There, now put your overalls on and fit them!0 -
If the brochure was incorrect maybe a spray can of hammerite maybe an option if you don't want to return the car?0

Usually, AFAIK, red callipers are fitted as part of an upgraded braking system, so bigger calliper, discs, wheels etc.
As far as I can see only the top spec CLIO Renaultsport Nav 220 Trophy has the red callipers as standard, not the CLIO Renaultsport Nav 200 LUX.
Which does the OP have?
The Lux has 17" wheels so maybe wouldn't fit the larger(?) red calliper.
The 18" wheels and red callipers appear to be available as part of the "Cup chassis" upgrade for £650.Cup chassis
The optional cup chassis comes with lower ride height and 15% stiffer springs and dampers. It also comes with 18" Renaultsport alloy wheels in black gloss with red brake calipers.0 -

Really the OP needs to come back and engage on the subject - was it a 200 with Cup chassis where only part of the Cup pack was fitted ? Was it a 220 Trophy and they've run out of red callipers (in which case usual caveat about spec changes applies).
Assuming the OP has lost out financially (i.e. paid for something not received) then rejection is an option but then might mysteriously find that the price of the replacement car has increased.
If no financial loss then it'll be a tough battle to get a change based on a cosmetic item (nice though red callipers do look on the right car)0
