It would appear the manufacturer has made a mistake in their brochure and they can not now supplier what you want.

A point which has not been raised is if you were to go down the route of sourcing red caliphers and having them fitted, you may find that the manufactures warranty is void if you have any problems with the brakes.

You seem to have 2 choices take the car back as it does not meet the written specification and get a different model with the red caliphers.
Or keep the car and settle on some good will gesture from the garage.

what are my chances of getting a replacement vehicle to the spec I thought I was getting?

Is there such an option available?

If not, then no chance. If they don't make them, they don't make them.
  • I am see where the OP is coming from, for a Car Lover this is quite a big deal, if it was me shelling out my hard earned money on a new car to a certain spec, I wouldn't be best pleased either...

But does the colour of the callipers really effect the spec of the car though with regards to how quick it will get you from A to B?

Speak to your insurance company as I would say technically it's not an aftermarket change it's something they forgot to do when you purchased it. Pus if all your paperwork indicates they should have been on there as standard and you get a letter from the company advising of their error in the event of the claim it might be ok

It's a Renault Clio Sport, I spoke with the complaint handler about after market fitment and she advised me this wasn't advisable due to insurance implications around modifications.
What does insurance implications have to do with them, unless they're giving you free 12mths cover?

Just to clarify something OP, is it just the colour of brake calipers you're concerned with or were they a "performance" brake upgrade. If it's just the former then get a quote from somewhere to have them painted and ask your dealer for a refund to this amount.

I suspect that because for insurance purposes it would be classed as a 'modification' as they are non-standard and may subsequently hike the premium. Sounds silly I know ....

The garage is saying that if the brake calipers are modified then the op will need to tell their insurer, which is almost certainly correct. And it is quite possible the insurer will ramp up the insurance price even though the modification makes no difference to the performance. That will be why the garage is not advising it.

One other thing OP, have your tried contacting Renault UK directly themselves to find out why they are still advertising the RenaultSport models with red callipers and why yours doesn't have them?

Yes, I understand that but this is the OP's concern, nothing to do with the dealership, and tbh if they were advertised as having them as standard equipment I really can't see they would be classed as a modification anyway.
