Car not the spec I thought I was buying

I ordered a factory build car and was advised in writing that the vehicle came with red brake calipers as standard. The vehicle arrived without red calipers. After making a complaint the car manufacturer advised me that the advice in writing (from their own customer service team) of the caliper colour was wrong and they apologised for this.

They have now asked me how I wish to proceed as changing the calipers is not an after market solution they can offer. I don't really know what to suggest, what are my chances of getting a replacement vehicle to the spec I thought I was getting?

What car is it, can you source the brake callipers independently ane get the dealer to pay for them?

Could you perhaps suggest to them a small refund as way of an apology for incorrectly advertising the vehicle?

I say small refund as no disrespect towards the OP but does the colour of the break calipers really make that much difference? Is it really worth changing the vehicle altogether over the colour of the break calipers?

It's a Renault Clio Sport, I spoke with the complaint handler about after market fitment and she advised me this wasn't advisable due to insurance implications around modifications.

I don't want a refund I want the red calipers. I bought this car for its aesthetics and it's fallen a bit short. I'm not saying I want a replacement vehicle I just don't know what I should suggest as Renault weren't really giving me options but rather asking for me to suggest one.

Ask them to send you a pot of red paint and a brush.

There's no point in saying "I want the red calipers" if they simply can't give you them and have a good justifiable reason why they can't.

Perhaps try the refund route and get some fitted by a local garage - or buy some paint from Halfrauds and paint them yourself....

Again no offence intended to you but it's a Clio not an Aston Martin, the colour of the calipers has no bearing on performance.

Plenty of chavmobiles driving around with calipers their owners have painted so just do that. Simples!

I already suggested a "reasonable" option which is to ask for a small refund/price reduction due to their inaccuracy with specification. (Perhaps you could price up red calipers and get some quotes for fitting from a local garage - then submit the total amount as a suggested refund to Renault?)

So with this refund you could either have red calipers fitted at a local garage or paint them yourself - I fail to see how this is "ridiculous" and I certainly wasn't the one who suggested it initially (see post #6).

It sounds like Renault can't fit the red calipers you want, and you have stated you do not want to return the vehicle - so a refund seems to be the best way forward IMO.

Have you checked with your insurance company to see what the price difference would be to your insurance if you were to get the after market modification? It may not be that much.
