Buying is painfully slow!

Before I get itchy too much just wanted to get some opinions about buying in England...

I got my offer accepted and my mortgage organised (I am good to go!)
Is it okay if I put pressure on my solicitor and the seller EA to keep track of what's happening?

It's like watching paint dry on wet winter day... I don't mind to project manage the efforts, is that usually what happens? buyer has to chase and handhold quite a bit?

    uyers (and sellers) always think the process goes too slowly. Ad it always takes longer than they expect or want.

    You are not buying a Big Mac.

    Yes you can use a bit of pressure but it is unlikely to make much difference (other than p*ssing off the professionals who are doing their jobs). In certain circumstances it might help, but ony where there is actually slack in the process to take up - and usually there is actually a reason why the apparant slack is there.

    The best advice for anyone buying is: learn patience, chill out and relax.

    It depends how long you're waiting. Have searches come back? Has your mortgage valuation been carried out? Is your solicitor waiting for responses to enquiries?

    Lender valuation is done, mortgage offer is done.
    My solicitor cannot start searches till seller contracts is received!

    I want to chase EA to get seller contracts dates or at least an awareness... how long is too long?

    3 weeks to receive a contract to me does seem excessive. Other than your solicitors chasing it, not much that can be done.
  • I know! I have chased the EA and let's see what happens... if need, I will chase every day!
    What is driving me insane is not being able to know! If seller cannot exchange till x date fine, at least should say so I reckon :(

    How long is a piece of string. My vendor didn't confirm exchange till 1-2 weeks before with completion 2 weeks afterwards

    Would you rather have a lease with mistakes and clauses not in your favor or would you have it done properly.

    It takes time for house buying you know. Can be around 12 weeks. Solicitors need to comb through the registry, searches e.t.c and make sure there is nothing that is going to bite you back in the future.

    Why the rush? have you given your tenancy notice to leave in?

  • I have been served a S21 unfortunately so I am keen to at the very least know what's happening.
    If the transaction will take months, fair enough I can organise myself in other ways.

    12 weeks is fine, we have already spent 3 weeks over nothing (so it seems!) without receiving much of an update of what/when to expect the next step, it's a bit long!

    Also let's say they had a call from every client chasing progress, then they are wasting time looking this up instead of working on what they are suppose too.
