I previously had Open office version 4.1.1 on my PC. I tried downloading the latest version and that deleted the previous version. However the new version did not download and I cannot find it anywhere. Now I cannot get into my Open Office documents to amend. Where has it all gone wrong and how can I correct to get Open Office up and running again.

Did you read the system requirements? Can you meet them? Check out this link: -

Funnily enough I am faced with exactly the same issue. I tried downloading Open Office 4.1.2 and it looked if this version download went through, as no messages to the contrary. All it did was not knock out the previous version 4.1.1 without version 4.1.2 being installed., The emblem also disappeared from my desk top, I have gone into My Control Panel and there is no sign on the latter version but version 4.1.1 is still showing as a live programme. As it does not appear on my desk top . How can I get into it to activate and include on my desk top for easier access in the future. I am on windows 10 and I don't know if this has relevance. Also why will my PC not accept the latest version 4.1.2. Any guidance on how to rectify will be very much appreciated in an easy to follow step by step fashion .0

Will LibreOffice open OpenOffice documents? If so I'd switch to that.0

I'm using Open Office 4.1.1 on my Windows 10 laptop without any problems.

I have an exact replica with the same symptoms . Since I tried to download Open office 4.1.2 unsuccessfully I have been unable to get back into version 4.1.1. again it is showing in my control panel as a live programme but how do I get into it. Is there a doctor in the house who can cure the aliment. Not sure what the mention of Libre Office has to do with it a unknown entirety to me There must be a reason why this happened to me and obviously I am not alone.0 -

Most informed people dumped OpenOffice for LibreOffice very quickly indeed.

I dumped OpenOffice a long time ago. Libre Office works fine with both Windows 10 and Linux Mint 17.3 (cinnamon and xfce versions). Can open and save to all MS formats.0

You could try System Restore to get your program back.
