annual verification form

i have just recieved a letter called an annual verification form. all it is doing is asking me to confirm details havent changed. then i have to sign it and send it back. should i be worried at all? should i send it back via recorded delivery to be safe?
its quite silly and an example of a total waste of money when you consider that people already sign every fortnight to confirm whether their details have changed or not.

You should only be worried if you have failed to declare any changes in circumstances over the past year.

If you are committing fraud they will now have a signed and dated statement from you confirming details haven't changed and will help greatly in any potential prosecution.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

thanks, i am just worried because it says you must send it back by 14th march and also i have seen people say how they got their money stopped because the dwp claimed they hadnt sent it back.

Normally because someone waits until the last moment to send the form back and it then takes a few days to get through the internal post system and a few more days before anyone looks at it. The sooner it is sent back the sooner it will be looked at. You can always phone a few days before the 14th to see if the form has been received and dealt with.

Waste of money. It will just be signed by a somebody in a mail centre somewhere else in the country and doesn't in any way guarantee it will make it to where it needs to be.

No. But it will prove that you have sent it and it has been received - which could prove very useful in any possible dispute somewhere down the line. And keep a copy of the letter

I agree that sending recorded delivery is a waste of time, and more importantly to anybody claiming benefits, a waste of money. I saw postal charges of £6 or £7 for recorded delivery and, as has been said by sammyjammy, it doesn't get it to its destination any faster. If you are really concerned, and are signing every fortnight, take it with you next time you sign and ask them to forward it in the internal mail system.

No longer "recorded delivery" but "signed for".

But just get a proof of posting note from the PO for free. That confirms they have received an envelope and are responsible for delivering it. It will be deemed to have been delivered.

Well if you do that ask for a receipt otherwise there will no record that you have sent it. It's not about making sure that it gets to the right person - it is about proving that you have actually done what you have said that you have done
