I hate the phrase "full time mummy" .
I hear this a lot when enquiring after mothers occupation, I work full time but am also a full time mother. I believe they should rephrase to "stay at home parent"!

When I was at work, I hated meetings where people would say things like

    'Hit the ground running'
    'Blue sky thinking'
    'Low hanging fruit'

  • Why do some people insist of saying "was like" or "goes" instead of the word said when they are discussing a conversation.

I also can't bear words like ginormous or humungus.
Worrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.

    Oooh... Raw nerve touched... :o

    I work beside a would-be raconteuse:

"So, ah sez tae him [snippet of conversation], ah sez - so ah done.

An' he goes [snippet of conversation].

An' ah wiz lik' 'at!!
    An' ah went 'NAW!'.

An' he wiz lik' 'at .

An' then he goes [snippet of conversation] - aye, that's whit he went and said!

    An' ah'm lik' 'at..."

I find that it irks me slightly. Partly because I can follow the entire story..

    :o
  • Another irritant is 'Y'alright?', used as a greeting.

    What about people who say:
so I turned round to him and said xxx and he turned round to me and said xxx........

I was listening to someone tell a protracted tale in this way and somebody else said "if you both stopped bloody spinning round, you'd get to the end of the story a lot quicker". :D

    Might that be colloquial?

Very common where I come from.

I hate being greeted when waiting at a till in a shop with 'You all right there?' when what I want to hear is 'May I help you?'.

I'm not in pain, I just want to deal with the firm or pick up my specs etc.

There are two women in our local Specsavers who persist in that!

You alright/all right there doesn't have to be relating to pain. You can not be alright for other reasons such as needing help with something because you're struggling or maybe because you're confused, lost or angry about not being able to find something in the shop or because the person helping you has gone off and left you with no idea what's going on.
