Dear me. What school did YOU go to?! :rotfl:

A little tip for you. Try and educate yourself, so you don't make yourself look silly. :p

A school that did not tolerate American spelling. Sadly, it seems that some other schools were not quite so thorough in the education of their pupils.

Why have some people turned this thread into an opportunity to have a go at other posters?

Typical of this forum, and it's being done by the posters I expected to do it too! :rotfl:

    Irony?

And a friend of mine, who has mild Tourette's (but not coprolalia), gets upset about people who don't know the difference between Tourette's and coprolalia... in fact the majority of people with Tourette's do not exhibit coprolalia.

  • Bought and brought, and incorrect use of "literally" drive me mental too.

Has anyone heard that horrific Americanism of "winningest?" As in "They're the winningest team in baseball history." It makes me want to punch myself in the face.

Also that strange Scottish expression of asking where you stay, as opposed to where you live. A stay implies that it's temporary!

  • I don't like bad language and I'm finding that it appears to be far more acceptable to swear in public than it was - definitely a step backwards.

Couldn't agree more. The F word is bandied around so much these days and there is barely an eye blinked.

And when did the grossly offensive C word become acceptable? During the recent "Celebrity" (word used in an ironic way, I assume) Big Brother it was used so often. I wasn't AS shocked to hear it from the younger housemates (so called "reality stars") but I was very shocked to hear Angie Bowie say it.

I assume it is being used for its shock value, much as the F word used to be, but what will the next shock word be when C becomes "normal".

My least favourite word is lipstick. I shuddered just typing it!

The phrase I (currently) hate the most is "Ja nah 'a mean" which translates into "do you know what I mean".

I've never understood why it is even a pejorative, given that it describes something so nice. But, I'm weird. :A
