Also when people answer the phone then tell you they can't talk. If it's not convenient, just don't answer the damn thing!

Most people would make time to take an urgent call. And you can't really tell if the call is urgent or not without answering it.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

Nothing is so urgent that you need to answer the phone during a funeral (which I've experienced). I've also called people who've answered and just said "can't talk right now" then hung up - so they have no idea what I've called about and whether it's urgent or not.

When did people start calling charity shops "chazzas"? I've only ever read it on MSE where a couple of people use it.

My siblings and I have used it for around 30 years.. it was always full of delicious members of society who graced it with a certain class.. Chazzer embraced that class.. We absolutely love them, little treasure troves.. :D

    Double negatives..

Brought and bought is very common on the boards.. especially on OS where they brought bananas for 2p a crate! *scream* no you freakin' didn't!! lol

potatoe and tomatoe .... *face palm* .. it's not that hard is it? Clearly it is for some.

Pedantic mares who correct everything... it takes a lot of self control to stop myself sometimes then I remind myself I don't know this person and fink 'wha'ever! :p

worstest and bestest ... from grown adults, (unless said tongue in cheek as I have done) .. really? are you 5?

geebee .. I think those posts are so you can point out that persons flaws, well if they don't care it won't matter if you highlight the fact they are nasty will it? ;)

I wonder if it is more people having learning difficulties displaying their lack of literary skills now with forums etc or if the education system is failing to teach children to spell or use grammar properly or simple ignorance.

What does your wife call a place where buses depart from?
    A Bus Stop...

She's born and bred in South London which doesn't really have such a thing as a "bus station" unless it's already attached to a "station for things that run on rails". Which is why I wondered if it was a regional difference.

A colleague of mine often ends phone calls saying "Toodles" - I can't tell if it's ironic or she's been doing it since she was 5 and doesn't realise how it sounds from an adult.
I need to think of something new here...

We have bus stops but on a night the buses go to bed in the bus station and i know they have stations in London i spent a very cold hour stood in one at 3am.

    .

A bus stop is where one bus at a time goes from. A 'bus station' is where multiple buses depart from (and arrive at.)
I agree. It is one (small) step up from that. :p

    Disagree 100%!

How can you say that someone using the correct terminology is 'infantile?'

I really can't believe some of the bizarre and hilarious things people are coming out with on this thread.

If I call the place airplanes depart from an 'airport,' is that infantile and 'wrong' too? Should I be saying 'air stop?' :rotfl:

When should hung or hanged be used?

You hang something up. Hang up your coat. Hang the washing on the clothes line.

The murderer was hanged by the neck until he was dead. She hanged herself.

Why have some people turned this thread into an opportunity to have a go at other posters?

Typical of this forum, and it's being done by the posters I expected to do it too! :rotfl:
