Bought a fake! Major dilemma!

  • I've been reading it all properly!!
I wouldn't want to return it as its a fake and she will sell it on to someone who isn't as savvy as you and who'll parade it round saying 'look at my lovely bag' thinking it's genuine. The seller is the type of person spoiling Ebay, I really hope you get your money back and the bag is destroyed, good luck.

  • Does nobody actually read what I type? I spoke to paypal yesterday who advised me NOT to send the bag back, get a letter from Mulberry stating the bags a fake (which I am collecting this afternoon) and fax it to them, and go to the Police to get a Crime Reference Number.

Provided they receive all of this, the claim will be found in my favour and I will be asked to destroy the bag. I'm thinking of attacking it with a mallet, chucking it underneath a passing bus then setting it alight and doing a ceremonial dance around the bloody thing.

    Why bother?

Why not just send it back for a refund and get a real one?

Did the fact that this one was a third the normal cost and on ebay not alert you to the posibility it might not have been the real thing?

Not everyone can afford £300 for a bag, and some people are happy with a replica for far less.

BTW how can any bag cost £300???

Hypothetically what happens if the seller says that the bag she sent you was genuine and that you have swapped it with a fake in order to con her.

Surely it's all a waste of time anyway, as OP is in Scotland and seller in in England.

Scottish police won't care about the bag, any court action will be scuppered by the Scottish/English thing, and the fact OP refused a refund?

If the seller has any brains they will have emptied their paypal account, and OP will be left with a bag he or she does not seem to want?

Have you updated the seller on where you are with all this?
i.e. you will not be sending it back, it has been confirmed as a fake, the Police are getting involved.

I think you should - if that doesn't frighten the life out of her then she is made of stern stuff.

    Keep at it.

And just for Stan - load of bags cost well in excess of £300.
Ladies love handbags it would appear.

Here is one at random http://www.mulberry.com/ almost £500.
We all evolve - get on with it

How can any bag be worth £300 let alone £500???
  • I've been following the thread and although I can see where the OP is coming from, it seems an awful amount of hassle to have gone to when you could have easily have got a refund. All seems a bit stretched out now.
  • BTW, anyone bidding on a designer bag on eBay knows they run some risk of it being a fake. I purchased a Louis Vuitton bag on eBay for £40.00, knowing full wel it was probably a fake. I never had it confirmed either way but I always got plenty of compliments about the bag and how "lucky" I was to have a LV bag, so I assume if it was fake, it was a pretty good knock off!

Also, if your friend works at Mulberry, why didn't you ask her to get you a bag with her discount? Rather than run the risk on eBay?

Stan, are you actually reading what shes typing? You quoted the post where she said that Paypal told her NOT TO SEND IT BACK.

Did you read the bit where it was discussed that its probably illegal to send counterfit goods by post?

For goodness sake before you make anymore ridiculous comments read the thread, properly.

As for how bags can cost £300, quite easily when they are designer ones. It falls to personal choice. If the OP wants to spend £300 or £3000 on a bag thats her lookout and her money.

The OP bid based on a picture of a Genuine Mulberry bag. The item she recieved was not the item pictured. Not all Mulberry bags on ebay are fake. There are people out there who tire of them and decide to sell on. As this bag was described as used the OP probably assumed it was one of those cases.
