  • They've willing suggested 50% deposit today. They have 100% feedback that I can see but no recent transactions. Deal would be face to face.

A paypal advance payment of £400 on a cash on collection amount...???

no that's not what I've said. 100% bank transfer or cash on collection.

IMO. Cash on collection only with a big & huge friend of the family close by. if your cautious about dodgy bank notes invest in a cheap Uv note scanner.
  • Well, I probably don't have enough time for a note scanner to arrive. Plus don't want to act overly suspicious.

I have her picture on what app.

I've suggested 50% today and 50% tomorrow via bank transfer and then weekend collection.

As long as there can't be reversal I'll be happy with that.

I'd only have to make a trip to the bank anyway with cash and probably rather not due to being busy.

If it's face to face then take cash (full amount) on hand over. If you're worried about fake notes get them to meet you at your bank and pay it straight into your account. That way the bank clerk does the checking for you.
  • When I was selling I loved buyers like this. I even used to offer discounts if people payed this way. If the buyer is collecting I would never allow the buyer to pay by PP.

Sorry I have come across wrong...

I'm trying to say that if a thief/scammer says that paypal is too technical,, then they are a thief/scammer.

I'm not advocating paypal at all.. I am saying that that the OP's buyer is so wrong as too have every raised hair on the back of my neck screaming... how OBVIOUS does it have to be...

So by your reckoning if they dont have a paypal account or for whatever reason dont want one they have to be a thief /scammer?
I know quite a few people who do not trust paypal at all and will not under any circumstances open an account with them. That doesnt mean they are thiefs or scammers just they dont want paypal.

Bank transfers and cash in hand are both far safer than any paypal payment for the most part. [i add that last bit because there is always an exception to the rule that some one can come along and point out]
  • They would like to collect today with full cash.

I'm busy today so going to have to rearrange

But anyway I don't know what to suggest

    100% cash
    100% bank transfer
    50, 50

They appear to want to buy any piece I have for sale.

It's either my lucky day or not..

NO.. IMHO.. I am saying that anybody who claims that setting up a paypal account is too TECHNICAL is a liar, a thief and a scammer.
  • Not sure they would have all the positive feedback if scammer. ..she had said she's just set up a business unrelated and her partner had dealt with computing side...
