I've just received an email from Curve, titled Issue with Tesco Bank Resolved:
Tesco Bank will no longer charge a cash advance fee on future Curve transactions and will refund all 3.99% charges previously applied for using your Tesco Bank Credit Card through Curve. We have been told by Tesco that this refund will be made within the coming days.

We do not anticipate other banks attempting to impose similar discriminatory charges on our customers.

    Phew!

Has anyone used Curve with their Tesco card in the last couple of days and can confirm that they definitely weren't charged the transaction fee?

As for interest, the transactions will be treated as purchases for the time being, so if you do currently pay interest on your account and you don’t clear the balance of the account off in full and on time, interest may be added to your statement. The pause to the charges will be applied in the coming days, so it’s still possible that any transactions made over the next few days will still have the same fees applied, but as discussed in my last post, these will be refunded.

We will be notifying customers about what happens next regarding services like Curve soon, but we don’t have a timescale yet. There will be plenty of notice though and we’ll make sure that everything is clearly laid out.

It does sound like they are preparing to come back with charges in the future, but maybe handle it a bit better next time.

Curve are launching a new metal card soon:

Strong indications elsewhere that it may support Amex once again, which would be nice.

They're also claiming that Google Pay and Apple Pay support is coming soon.

This tweet from Curve would suggest that you can charge an underlying card in Euros and let the card do the exchange.

(Apologies if you were the tweeter, and therefore have had your answer already)

If you hadn't changed the card currency of CardX (by clicking the 'i' next to card on the curve app) before the purchase/atm transaction. Can you do this: after purchase/atm transaction, pick another card (CardY) within the app, change the currency of that card from GBP to EUR, then 'Go Back in Time' and pick CardY (within 14 days of transaction).

CardX transaction will be refunded, and you shouldn't be charged the 1% fee when CardY is charged. In theory, don't know if this is the case in practice.

Of course, changing currency is not supported for some currencies. When I try to change card currency from GBP to THB or MYR, I get 'Unsupported Currency - Please note that the currency you've chosen (THB) is not currently supported by Curve.

You will be charged in GBP and may be charged additional FX'.

Any Visa or MasterCard standard credit or debit card can be added. Prepaid cards can't be added.

Anyone having problems paying HMRC using Curve? I tried today and get typical generic error:
    "
No payment has been taken from your account.

The address you gave may not match the one your card issuer has.
This is the most common problem for unsuccessful payments.

The payment may also be unsuccessful because:
    • there are not enough funds in your account - contact your card issuer for more details
    • the wrong password was entered when using 3D Secure
    • your card was not issued in the UK"
But none of it applies really and I used the card abouth a month ago on HMRC. I'm close to the limit, only £4500 left to use but even £1000 payment doesn't go through. My daily limit is £3750.

I can confirm that if you have a card set to currency X and make a transaction in currency X then Curve does not attempt to do the currency conversion for you, leaving it entirely up to your underlying card provider to do so. Using the go back in time feature will refund you the exact amount in foreign currency to card X, but if exchange rates have shifted slightly that may not equate to the same amount in GBP as what was originally taken. The exchange rate on the day you use go back in time will determine what card Y is charged at.

Monzo is a full UK current account with full FSCS protection and can be linked to Curve.

I used Curve with HRMC a few weeks ago with no issue, but I have noticed more errors in the last month or so than I have previously...

Same for me, many times payments don’t go through with some mentioning on the push notification a limit issue but checking my limits I should have lots, have tried contacting them but no response yet.
