Apparently Tesco Bank have sent a letter out explaining that all Curve transactions will now be charged as cash. Anyone else received those letters?
Yes i got the letter , and i did 1 £100 transaction on 1st June to see if it would effect mu Curve card usage and it did £3.99 Transaction Fee. Annoyed as my wallet got a lot slimmer with just 1 Curve and 1 Debt card instead of all my cards.0 -

That's very harsh.
I haven't received the letter (yet).
Shouldn't they inform punters of this change before implementing it?
Are there any other examples of a card provider charging a fee based on the merchant's name rather than the merchant's category?
I guess one reason for this is to deter punters from recycling cash to earn points. IMO a fair compromise would be not to give points on Curve transactions.
If other banks follow Tesco's lead, Curve will die.0 -
I'm already at £10K annual limit, so I will soon stop using Curve. I was told to wait couple of weeks to ask again for limit upgrade.0

Don't limits get upped automatically?
Mine started low, but my 365 day limits now are £50,000 for purchases and £40,00 for ATM usage.
I didn't ask for them to be increased.0 -

WHAT??!!
I haven't received a letter. I've been happily using my Curve card, pointed to my Tesco CC just like I've been doing for months. Having read this thread, I've just checked my Tesco online banking and I've been hit with five "cash fees" this week, totalling £13.97.
Most definitely not impressed.0 -
Had this too. I received the letter, but Curve were under the impression the fees would only be charged to users of the original 'prepay' cards. They sent me a new Debit Mastercard but the charges apply to these too.

Puzzling. Apparently the letter sent out by Tesco Bank refers to the two days when MasterCard incorrectly labelled Curve Transactions as cash advances. Further, Tesco Bank increased its cash advance fee from 3.00% to 3.99% and started treated prepaid card including Revolut loading as cash advances. However Curve was stated to be not affected. From 1st June, Tesco credit cards will increase their cash advance fee from 3.0% to 3.99%. More importantly, it will now treat payments to prepaid or virtual cards, such as Revolut, as a cash advance.
For clarity, this does not impact Curve. If you have linked Curve to your Tesco credit card you may have received this letter. This is because, for two days earlier this year, Curve transactions were incorrectly coded by Mastercard. If you used Curve during those two days then Tesco thinks !!!8211; incorrectly !!!8211; you were loading a prepaid card.
btw I didn't receive a letter: Perhaps this is only sent to those whose loading of Curve over a period of two days were incorrectly identified as cash advances.0 -
Quick question... if anyone knows...
I have a Halifax clarity mastercard added to my Curve card which natively is in GBP.
If I select this cards currency to be Euro's in the Curve app will I still incur the 1% foreign exchange fee from Curve when using it to buy something in Euros or will that transaction pass through without charge to my Halifax Clarity account as Euros and then be converted into GBP?
Thanks

For what it's worth, I've set up a thread on Tesco Bank's community forum. If anyone affected would chime in that'd be grand:
