Just a quick upodate on Curve. Having been using the card for about a month now nad had no problems with it getting acepted instore and online, but they seem to have problems with refunds.

At the moment i am waiting a an Amazon refund for over £300 which was processed on the 11th spoke with Amazon its gone through aslo a £20 refund from B&Q which was processed on the 13th.

Both were made with the curve card with my Amex as the connected card, they are looking into it and have promised it will be sorted , but just soemthing to be mindfull off at the moment. Hopefully when it comes out of beta they will not have this problem.

Well had my refund yesterday but have just received an email saying that from 31st May you will no longer be able to use your Amex card with Curve. Seems Amex have told them to stop , think this will have a serious effect on there product , for me the main reason i went and got it was so i could pay by amex everywhere. :(

Well I want to give them a chance so I won't cancel just yet but no Amex support ultimately means no curve for me.

    Couple of observations from me.

    1) the interchange fees AMEX charge must have taken a hit and thus prompted this decision. I imagine there was an agreement to reduce the cost on certain Visa/Mastercard transactions but people using it to pay for things where AMEX is already taken probably hit them.

    2) these interim issues have probably caused a right issue with Amex to resolve when they certainly didn't expect to have to spend that much on customer support

Indeed it's looking like it. They have no idea how many people are going to cancel I think. They'll be in administration before the Bank Holiday is my guess...

Shame, as it was a great idea in principle.

Yes with the loss of Amex there isn't much point to this. It did seem a somewhat unbelievable benefit for just a £25/£35 outlay.

Yup, cancelled mine as soon as the email arrived. Pity...

I see the blogger we were talking about earlier ('Headforpoints') has recommended people actually stick with the card for now, rather than cancel for a full refund and reorder if they somehow sign a new deal with Amex. I can't see why they would do this for any reason other than referral payments.

I've seen someone else has put the blame on the blogger's doorstep - which seems rather unfair as Curve were aware of what their partner was doing - but the blogger's response shows it's clear he knew what was going on, and it was not legitimate.
TabTraveller Says: I suspect that this company has been utterly f#*ked by blogs encouraging members of the public to apply for the card where they have absolutely no genuine cause to own a business mastercard.

If you think there is a mass market - and the funding they have is for a mass-market product - for a product aimed only at small business people which allows them to recharge business expenses to a PERSONAL credit card then I suggest you are wrong. That would limit the market to a few thousand people at most.

Sad that the fears over the last few pages have come true.
  • I'm still going to wait for my Curve card. Even linked with a Visa/Mastercard, it'll still save the 2% credit card surcharges now applied by many online stores/airlines. In the meantime, I'm just going to hope they work things out with Amex.
Just starting a small business, and I had high hopes for this. Shame it all seems to be falling apart one bit at a time!!!
