That phone number is 0203 which would typically be used by a forwarder to appear in London.

So no mention of possible customs charges. I would get a refund asap.. it all smells rancid.

the UK address is an "office" all calls are handled by Canada , they are NOT registered in the UK and not VAT registered

I had some free time at work earlier so did the live chat with them.

Asked if they were registered in the UK as a company, for VAT & what their VAT number was. He said yes to both but was unable to tell me the VAT number as he doesn't have access to that information and I would need to email courtney@bannerbuzz.com to get it.

Asked how he knew they were both registered in the UK and registered for VAT if he didn't have access to that information. He told me to wait, came back 5 mins later and said he couldn't reach the team but if I gave my email, he'd email the answers in an hour.

Needless to say, I haven't received any emails from them.

who you gonna tell , they are not a UK company

average small company buying "flyers or banners" would accept the price is correct (inc vat) , but then find no vat receipt , so in reality its cost them 20% more

Well in theory you could either take them to court in the UK given they allude to being a uk company and having a uk presence. Or take them to court in america.

But realistically, I'd just report it to the better business bureau and do a chargeback.

However, OP has still to tell us how they paid so chargeback may not be an option for them.

I asked the Canadian sales woman for there vat number as I needed it urgently for my accountant , I said the sale was late nov/early December but I was in my car and paperwork was at work , she stated that they were a Canadian company , goods were dispatched from India and they did not have a vat number , I asked if I should send a friend of mine who lives in london to get a new copy receipt with vat number , she said it was not a showroom , just a mail drop off office
