  • So I went for my home demo today! Few minor issues they promise to fix by tomorrow (they've been really good so far so I'm hopeful).

Completion tomorrow! Eek! This time tomorrow I should be a homeowner! I'll be packing over the weekend (most of it already done though thankfully), snagging survey Monday, new furniture delivered Tuesday and removals company booked for Wednesday. So Wednesday night will be my first there. I'm silly with excitement!

    Anyone else completing tomorrow??

Going to see the house again on Saturday to see how they're getting on and to see if/when I can get a carpet fitter in to measure up.

They're still aiming for NHBC sign off for November 11th. Not long to go at all!
  • Argh.

Just emailed for an update on a likely completion date (estimated date per exchange of contracts came and went two weeks ago) and now being told 'early december'.

This is all because some idiot ordered the wrong size of bay window originally. Been told they are expecting delivery of the correct size in the next 2-3 weeks...

Our long stop is the 14th of December and with us being on 20 working days notice there's not a huge amount of wiggle room!

So paranoid that this is going to all go horribly wrong and that I'll never own a house. :undecided: :(

When does the mortgage offer expire? You don't have to pull out at the long stop date, it just means you can do, usually without penalty.

Mortgage offer expires around the 10th of January (I believe).

I know we don't have to pull out and I realise if we do after the long stop date it would be without penalty.

I'm just looking at her timescale of delivery within next 2-3 weeks and thinking it will be a push to get us completed by the 14th of Dec (long-stop).

It's just frustrating because it is the only thing holding all of this up.

Should have picked a house without a bay window!

Short term pain though for the long term gain of a lovely bay!

Well we are in! Yesterday was a busy day! And very emotional. I cried leaving my old house. But the new house is amazing and I have to give David Wilson Homes credit, so far everything with them has been great.

Congratulations, Swishy! Must be an amazing feeling.

And yes, let's hope the bay window is lovely eh? I'm sure it will be once they've put the right size in hah. :p

DWH have turned out to be shocking for us. We're currently entering into final talks with management before we begin legal proceedings.

Make sure what you have bought lines up, the drains consistently drain and the pipes don't tick when the hot water runs.

Our new home is turning into a nightmare.

Went for a look around today with the builder. House is boarded, skirting, architrave and doors are on. Most electrical fittings are installed.

Garden wall is built and electrcity fed to the garage.

Kitchen and radiators/boiler going in this week and the bathrooms the week after.

Building site manager whilst won't commit to a date which I totally understand, said it *should* still be good for the final NHBC inspection on 11th November, so still aiming to complete on the 24thz

Spoken to my carpet fitter who should be able to get in to measure next week once the kitchen units are in (having floorig fitted the day after we move in).

Bit of a nightmare with Openreach though. They claim there's no routing or cabling from the cabinet to the house. Builder confirms that the ducting is all done and houses beyond ours, further away from the cabinet have active lines. Builder is going to speak to Openreach this week to find out what the score is.

    IT'S ALL HAPPENING!
