They told us we weren't allowed on site
Bloody right you're not! it's a construction site!
Accompanied is different obviously but should still be subject to induction.
You can't complain about constructors being unprofessional and then allowing free access to every man,his dog,and their kids whenever they want...
Far better is to reasonably negotiate to view the progress.0 -
Acrow props at the ready...0

Kind of wish I'd seen our build at such an early stage; they'd already done part of the roof by the time we reserved.
No visit today; OH decided to crack his head open playing football 60 miles away so spent the afternoon driving round the M25!:rotfl:0 -

Not complaining! Just wondered how someone managed to get so close to their plot!0 -
Hello All, What a great little thread. I have to join in! We decided on a new build (even though more expensive than a second hand home) mainly because of the HTB scheme, it's meant we could buy our 'forever home' in the first place rather than looking to move 5/10 years down the line.
My fianc!e and I reserved our new build Redrow property in January, we've had the mortgage & HTB offers through and last night went to the solicitor to sign the contract and pay the deposit.
She is just waiting on some final bits coming through then hoping to exchange next week.
Our home is due to complete around end of May time! :T
The only hurdle we've come across so far is that they changed the kitchen layout without telling us till after it was ordered.. it's a bit disappointing as one of the reasons we chose that house type was because of the nice kitchen layout.. but nothing we can do about it apparently we have to have the new layout.. we've asked to see some plans so just waiting on them coming through; however it's a little late now if the plugs are in the wrong place as first fix has been done.
We've made it our Sunday morning trip out every week to go to the site and take some pictures! The house is coming along nicely, we now have walls, a roof, windows and even a front door! The garage roof is been put on this week.
We're hoping that this time it all goes through ok, as we were involved in a self build that all fell through so it's very nerve racking, but at the same time great to actually see something been built.:p
Trying to be patient but would like it complete now! we are getting married 4 weeks after its due to complete too !
We've been back for our weekendly visit, and the garage/porch roof has now been put on & looks like the internal walls have gone up too as the house looks very dark inside!
The back acoustic fencing in the rear garden has also gone up (although garden looks small compared to the plan) but cant get close enough to see properly. This photo was taken through the site fencing (just have to be careful not to drop my phone!)

Hi all - i'm joining you! House is up scaffolding down and roof on! Awaiting mortgage offer and supposed to be in June. We got 10k off our asking price, flooring and turf so am happy with that. We reserved on Valentines day and it was all a bit off a rush as we had to choose the flooring that day - the builders had already chosen the kitchen colours and bathroom. A local firm that are quite big are building the estate. I can't see our house as i don't think the road has been built properly yet so we can't get in there. The one thing I am concerned about is they say they won't do upgrades but the family bathroom does not have a shower in it and DH works shifts eek!pennyprincess - getting more for less0

So a slightly wobbly update after the revelations of the weekend.
Chased up the mortgage broker as we haven't received the acceptance paperwork though even though we had made the mortgage application over a month ago and were advised everything was great and the bank were happy.
Seems this was the broker being a bit fast an loose with the full facts as the valuation we paid for over a month ago has only be requested today!
Arrggh!
Loving everyone's build pictures! its so exciting. Bt1 - don't worry I bet its still great to see your build in progress.
The builders are missing out on a little money spinner here – I would happily pay for a weekend access pass to the site (with a staff member to be the H&S guide) so I could take build photos. Or access to a remote access movable site webcam
Haylescom - is your OH ok?
PennyPriness - Valentines day - how romantic! Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -

I have a small drone that films.. Was tempted to fly it in0 -
What a great idea for a thread! Also glad we aren't the only crazy ones that drive up every Saturday to see the house! I've actually said to hubby they are missing a trick not letting people get involved - I had the idea that they let you place a brick and then you get a certificate saying you built your house haha.
We reserved on the 12th November and our mortgage was approved on the 1st December and we signed the missives on December. Our house is actually due to be ready for us on March 18th so we don't really have long left at all now! They have been giving us updates as they go which has been quite good:-). They've told us the look around where they explain how stuff works will be the 10th or 11th March so really excited for that. She mentioned council are due out this week for the habitation check.0
