    oops, I meant 8.40am :o

probably wishing it was nearly bedtime and all the spam would be gone by then - maybe, hopefully. :)

Edited to add: However, probably not as I've just looked again and even though we are now in 'working hours' there is still loads of spam and spammers on the boards. It just beggars belief what is going on and why this isn't being dealt with.

As the forum uses vBulletin why not just enable the captcha for new members posts - also for new members limit the post count to 1 per hour

A very easy 2 clicks would resolve this spam problem

The reCAPTCHA "I'm not a robot" one is enabled at present, and they've had most other variants operational over time as these things evolve.

Sadly, a determined spammer, especially one who'll use humans to solve the CAPTCHAs, easily finds a way around most types.

MSE won't spend the money necessary to prevent these spam attacks. It's quite simple and cheap to implement but as long as users keep doing their job for them they won't bother.

Why does "Digital Spy" not get this problem?

Most forums I'm a member of don't have this problem either. MSE are to lazy/cheapskate to implement the measures necessary to prevent it. They rely on forum users to report the posts instead.
  • Hi everyone, if you see new spam could you start a new thread please? Our hearts kind of leap when you read "big spam attack" when there isn't one :)
