Police stopped me.

Some of the replies on this thread are typical of the know alls on this forum. How do you know what this lad said to the copper, stop making assumptions, he didn't come here for a lecture. He already said they couldn't stop at the lights when they changed to amber so why are you all having a go?
Unfortunately the Police have nothing better to do than pick on motorists and a lot of them do abuse the power they have. I wouldn't wee on most coppers if they were on fire. Oh and before you start on me, no I haven't ever been in trouble with the Police, never been stopped in my car and never had a speeding ticket either.0 -

Couldn't agree more. Sounds like the [STRIKE]tax collectors[/STRIKE] police were simply cruising around on a revenue-raising exercise, looking for the softest and most lucrative targets they could find.
It's much easier work than catching real, serious criminals and it gets their detection figures up.0 -
Does it really look like that or does it look like they saw a car go through a red light and pulled it up then proceded to check the tyres when the driver claimed his car wouldnt stop?0

That's not what was said. He said they couldn't stop when it changed to red. And as many posters have pointed out there's no excuse for going through a red light. Not being able to stop in time when it changes to amber does not mean you end up going through a red light. Some posters have been overly harsh but that doesn't diminish that they had valid points. The OP has already shown that they didn't understand the highway code. Surely explaining the actual law is of benefit to the OP?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Were you there, did you see this happen? No, but you have made your mind up haven't you? The lad came on here for some advice, if you have nothing useful to say then keep your beak out of it.0 -

So what useful comments have you made then? If the OP does not like the replies to his post, tough but he should listen to those with more knowledge and experience, especially has he hasn't passed his driving test yet!
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I can't see where he said that, this is from his first post
"HOWEVER!!!! The lights ahd changed on last minute and he was commited to go through, as he would of had to done an emergency stop and his car would of skidded and could of crashed."
He didn't say what colour they had changed to.0 -

I haven't made any useful comments, I just don't like bullies getting the upperhand like they are on here.0 -
Come on folks ! Don't be so nit - picky, can ALL of you honestly say that you have NEVER, NEVER, EVER gone through a red light !!! Let him cast the first stone !
Whilst agreeing with the comments about the police talking to the driver not the passenger I must say his comments about the "attitude" of the policemen is not at all uncommon.
I say that as someone who has been driving for nearly 40 years, not as a boy racer who has just got his 3rd speeding ticket.
Abut 4/5 years ago my son was pulled over by the police. First they said he was speeding, when he said he saw them pull out of a layby behind him and follow him for about 3 miles they changed tack. A quick look at the car, in poor street lighting, and he was informed that he had a bald tyre. When he said that there was nothing wrong with his tyres (he had two new tyres fitted that day and the other two passed as OK), he got told to "shut up" before he got into "deep trouble".
Eventually they let him go on his way - but it was obvious that they were two bored policemen just trying to show how tough they were !
Perhaps they had "targets" to meet - but it's hardly the way to get the public on your side, is it ?0 -
To be honest, I think the OP has been talked to without respect based on assumptions. Just like the disrespect he received when stopped by the Police.
And, he has handled the rude replies very well.0
