Police stopped me.
Comments

At the moment all that i am interested in is the following..
The police stopped us, we had seatbelts on, took them off when officers approached, one officer started to get the attitude, thats when i started to get defencive. They asked me no questions.
All i am asking is even though they stopped the vehicle, gave my friend a caution, but they gave him no documents........ Do you think that the police just did it to scare my friend?
And as for the following comments from........
HAPLESS, ESPRESSO, Keep them to yourself, im asking for help and advice, if i want a telling off i'll go back home.0 -
2 cures here;
(1) You need to keep your nose out of things that are not your concern.
(2) Your friend needs further driving lessons, even if he has somehow fluked a driving test at some stage.
An Amber light means STOP, it is no excuse not to know the tyre laws.. period.0 -

You asked for advice and the advice was don't interrupt a police officer while he is talking to someone else, always check your tyres then you won't get pulled and be more attentive at traffic lights and always expect them to change.
If you don't take that advice or pass the advice on then that's your problem! The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

AMBER means a warning to stop!!!
RED means stop.
You dont have time to stop, wether there is anything behind you or anything.
You can cause an incident,
If you are commited to go through from a small distance and you cannot stop then you proceed through, you dont normaly have time to look around to notice at traffic lights..
If you have commited yourself to go through then you go through.
You probably do it, everyone else does.
It is a good question about the amber lights. I think everybody must know about it, my instructor has said about if its touch and go if it changes last minute then go through.

This constable was doing nothing. Standing there looking important. the female officer was speaking, the male constable was having an attitude, as she was to my friend, whilst in the police car. They both had a bad attitude, took his number but didnt get hers.
Thank you hapless, just trying to work things out and sort it for my friend, i am thankfull for your responces and that, but i feel as if people on this site are having an attitude themselfs, when all im doing is posting for my friend0 -
Oh and as someone who lost a friend who got hit by an idiot with bald tyres who never stopped at a crossing when the light went amber, by the time the light was green and she began to cross he had hit her and killed her. Some clever young idiot who though he could drive and disregard the rules of the road because "I wouldn't happen to me".
The inquest report said that his tyres were so bald that he would not have been able to stop if he had applied the brakes.

You need to re read the highway code. Amber doesn't mean warning to stop. AMBER means STOP. You can only pass through Amber if you are already past the stop line or can't stop in time. You've attributed this condition to the RED light which is incorrect. There's no excuse for going through a red light. That can only happen if you ignored the Amber light and therefore ignored the highway code."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Big clue here! You could well have got your friend nicked for the bald tyre by interfering, myself I think he should have been, as others have said if you are driving a vehicle, you the driver are responsible for ensuring it is roadworthy and appropriately documented, this is to protect other road users from the irresponsible amongst us and also the driver believe it or not.
In answer to your question although already answered by others, No your friend it would appear will not face prosecution for this incident, however it will have been noted and his "I didn't know about that officer" answer/excuse is highly unlikely to carry any weight should he be stopped again, he may however receive a letter in the post advising him on his choice of spokesperson in future.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
If you are hit from behind it's the other drivers fault, not yours, they shouldn't be that close. You dont have time to stop, wether there is anything behind you or anything.

Better hit from behind than hitting someone who may be crossing whether the lights are at a pedestrian crossing or at a roadway. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying.
If you are approaching traffic lights, look ahead and see the lights are on red then provided you aren't speeding you should always always have time to stop.
If you are approaching the lights and they are on amber then you should stop and should have plenty of time to stop. Remember that they don't hide traffic lights behind things, you can look up the road and see them with plenty of breaking distance.
If you are approaching lights and they are on green but change to amber when you are too close to stop safely then you should have enough time to clear the lights before they change to red. It's not like they change from green to amber to red in half a second.
The only ways you can accidentally go through a red light are if you A) didn't notice the light was amber/red and just went sailing through (its careless driving but it does happen) or
the light is on amber/changes to amber as you approach and you decide to risk it. If you risk it but don't make it then unlucky, the police are in the right for stopping you as you knowingly took a risk with your life and the life of those in other vehicles/pedestrians etc.
As for your friend seemingly not knowing that it is illegal to have bald tyres then how exactly did they pass their test? they certainly didnt read the highway code.
Rather than getting angry with the police about the seatbelt issue you should learn from it and remember that if you ever get stopped again, leave your belt on until the police ask you to get out of your vehicle. (did your friend have the engine on still? if so then it could be argued the belt should have still been on)0
