Sorry haven't read through all 11 pages but have read the first 3!
I have only had one experience involving the Police and it was a good one which involved me breaking down on a motorway alone and at night before mobile phones were invented. They escorted me from the roadside phone I had walked over 3 miles to find in the dark across the carriageway into their car, drove back to my car and waited with me until the AA turned up.
However... I have a very good friend that joined the Police 2 years ago and she has changed irrevocably. She never shuts up banging on about all things "Police" and only ever dates guys who are involved with the Police in some way. She has a very bad "up her own !!!!" attitude about her job and does come across as very patronising.
An example, we are out on the bus in Reading on our way in for a night out. 2 Young lads got on wearing hooded tops, they were around 15 or 16. She grabs my arm and says "don't even look at them" then says she "knows their type" etc. I just laughed they were just 2 harmless young kids.
Another time in Southampton where I live we parked up and she suddenly locked all the car doors. I said what are you doing that for? and she nodded towards 2 young black guys innocently walking up the road not even looking in our direction.
 Its pathetic it really is.0

OMG OMG OMG PLEASE READ WHAT IVE SAID !!
 IN MY EXPERIENCE.
so NO im not going to give you figures ! my experiences are my own how can i prove that statistically .. you are beyond belief.
how did i just KNOW you were going to say this. if you quoted me correctly i actually said
"(IN MY EXPERIENCE.. NOT TO BE TAKEN AS AVERAGE) in my experience lorry drivers do seem to drive more dangerously than cars."
i mean seriously conor. Your taking your wierd 'debating' skills to a new level with this one. i said NOT TO BE TAKEN AS AN AVERAGE JUST SO YOU COULDNT SAY GIVE ME STATS...omg im hyperventilating. how can you say give me stats ...seriously... this is too funny... :rotfl: .. do you have some disorder where you just HAVE to disagree with something no matter how little there is to disagree?:eek:0

Just remember 2011. It's the crisis point where majority of the current HGV drivers in this country will have retired and as the number of those leaving is outstripping those coming in by 10 to 1 and rising, .
 Help!
Society will collapse for a lack of lorry drivers!
 I'm scared! :eek:0

I have, today, spoken to two HGV drivers at a service centre on the M6,No you haven't. That's 2/3 the length of a car and that close, you'd not be able to see the lights of the vehicle in front. If I'm lying, you'll feel quite happy to post a video showing them doing that at motorway speeds won't you?
both of who inform me that you can see the lights of the truck in front at a distance of 10 feet, and did say that they also have witnessed trucks travelling to close to each other, although obviously not them?
I have also sat in these two trucks and can see the road at a distance of 10 feet, ( I paced the distance from the truck to where I could see the road), and as lights are at least 18 inches above the road this proves that the lights are visible from 10 feet, making your comment not true!
I also witnessed,(again), two trucks on the M6 near Lancaster travelling in tandem in L2 overtaking trucks in L1, the second truck was no more than 10 feet behind and was closing the gap then lengthening the gap, obviously he could go faster than the first tuck but not allowed in L3.Do you drive a lorry? No. So how would you know? I do drive one, therefore I know. In the lorry I drive, the BOTTOM of the windscreen is so high off the floor that a 6ft high person could walk right in front of the cab and I'd not see them. That's why many lorries now have a fourth mirror fitted at the front of the cab to cover the area directly in front of the vehicle.
And judging by your claims of what we can and can't see from your vast experience of driving lorries, you obviously did poorly in geometry at school...
That is in the lorry YOU drive, I suppose yours is different from all the others?
I think you need to sort your own geometry out,(unless you sit in an oddball cab)!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

its the delorian truck. it allows him to travel through time and change scenarios and facts. he cant see the road because the Trux capacitor (newly designed) gets in the way.0

i am a HGV driver and have been for a lot off years and work for the largest supermarket chain in the world (not tesco) .
why are lorry driver's sticking up for the idiots and car driver having a go at good lorry drivers for .
whats happened to the ops post it seems to have been taken other by car v lorry at the end off the day,we need both in society, cars to get around and lorrys to carry the goods we have .
we are running out of lorry driver in this country very fast and it will get worse in sept 2009 when we will need to have a cpc every 5 years(Certificate of Professional Competence)to drive them and so will car driver to drive the little van and 7.5 lorrys has a job .so the next time you other take or come down a slip road think lorry and do the same at junctions traffic lights ,roundabout because with out us how do you get basic food or health care , it come on a lorry full stop
sorry for the rantthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0
