IT isn't an emergency stop. It's a controlled stop.0 -
unlike you, although i have 6 years no claims, and havent ever had any accident as of yet (touch wood) i recognise that circumstances will at some point arise where an accident is unavoidable, through no fault of my own.
Of course they will if the actions of another driver create the situation but an accident for the scenarios you describe is completely avoidable.
I manage to avoid them in a 44 tonne truck. If you can't see how to in a poxy car, you need lessons.0 -

I am going to live to regret this, but ...
I respectfully suggest that, in a 44 tonner, you are significantly less likely to hear the phrase "Sorry Mate, I Didn't See You" than in a car.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

You'd think that wouldn't you but every time some moron in a car has cut me up, that's exactly what they've said.
And when I'm reversing, apparently hazard warning lights, a big loud reversing beeper saying "Warning, this vehicle is reversing" and being a 8ft wide, 14ft high 53ft long object isn't enough it would appear judging by the amount of people who drive around me to the point of going up pavements and into factory entrances...0 -
Thats typical from a lorry driver, no compassion or thought to anyone, 90% of which who are rude and arrogant to all other road users.
Mr lorry driver do you know you are suppose to LOOK in your mirror before overtaking on a motorway? Cos I aint found one that does yet!!
D
I suggest that you should take more notice if those little orange lights on the rear of vehicles in future :rolleyes:0 -

Those little orange lights,( I am assuming you mean indicators), do NOT give you the right of way, they are an indication,(no pun intended) of what you intend to do, it is an offence to pull out in front of an overtaking vehicle, at the least driving without due care and attention at worst dangerous driving. And when I'm reversing, apparently hazard warning lights..........
Hazard lights are not reversing lights, hazard lights should not be used on a moving vehicle read the HC, you are fond enough of quoting it:-
96: Hazard warning lights. These may be used when your vehicle is stationary, to warn that it is temporarily obstructing traffic. Never use them as an excuse for dangerous or illegal parking. You MUST NOT use hazard warning lights whilst driving unless you are on a motorway or unrestricted dual carriageway and you need to warn drivers behind you of a hazard or obstruction ahead. Only use them for long enough to ensure that your warning has been observed.

[SIZE=-1]That is a LAW, and reversing is driving!

Is that like front fog lights which you clueless clowns seem to think are driving lights?
Sadly you morons need all the clues you can get which is why we use them.0 -

hahah man you should have a stand up show!
im my scenario i stated SPECIFICALLY it would be UNAVOIDABLE to not make an 'controlled' stop. The whole point of the scenario was about a driver HAVING NO CHOICE BUT TO MAKE ONE.
Attempting your best to make a car go from 30mph to 0mph over a space of 5metres to avoid hitting someone is pretty hard to do without one mate. again unless you have the flux capacitor. which doc brown has assured me you dont.
the whole point of the scenario was just that.. you are missing the point by a few billion miles.
stop saying it was 'completely avoidable'. the whole point of the scenario was that it ISNT AVOIDABLE! THATS THE CRUX OF THE ENTIRE HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION, WHICH IS IN THE REALMS OF POSSIBLITY!!
HOWEVER
ill offer you an alternative scenario if this is easier for you to imagine. use this one instead, ill put it down nice and simple for you to comprehend
1) you are driving down a bowling alley the same width as your car, you cannot turn as the big cushions stop you.
2)you are travelling 30mph, and have been injected with a substance to stop your telepathic pre-cognitive ablities to predict possible children jumping out'.
3)a small child jumps out from behind a lead wall (impenatrable to x-ray vision) approximately ONE MILLIMETRE from the front of your moving vehicle
4)all you have in the car is a brake pedal (all other pedals have been removed as has the steering wheel) as has the flux capacitor.
5)aliens have fitted a gravity enhancer on your car making it impossible to fly (although through the wonders of alien technology it somehow doesnt increase your friction and therefore doesnt decrease your stopping distance)
6) you have a choice... A) put your foot on the brake
dont put your foot on the brake. the brake pedal is actually a switch that goes from position 1 - no brakes applied, to position 2 - full brakes applied. there is no intermediate position.
ok so please explain to me how you would avoid an emergency stop here
man are you Jack Bauer!??? you seem to be able to get out of any situation
Ps. you are naked and have no clothes on, so you cant say 'oh id just pull a bottle of diet coke and mentos out of my pocket and use it as a makeshift foamy jetpack to fly and rescue everyone'
looking forward to inevitably hearing how there is absolutely no need for an emergency.. sorry.. 'controlled' stop..0 -

Sadly you morons need all the clues you can get which is why we use them.
I only use fog lights when it is foggy or BAD visibility, unlike HGV drivers who use sidelights or no lights when the LAW tells them to use dipped headlights during fog or BAD daytime visibility.
You are not to use hazard lights whilst driving, or does the LAW only apply to other people and not to Connor?
The only morons and clowns on this thread are people like you who use size to intimidate.
Stop insulting people or stop posting.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
