DS came home tired and fed up from school. Says he can't be bothered any more and just wants them over with. Said he found it harder to concentrate. I think all the kids are the same. Shame the process is so drawn out from this Sat through until early Dec.
He has a birthday party to go to the Sat after paper 1 so that is something to look forward to. Trying to deflect some of the focus off the tests.
He has been doing very well but I am afraid of us hitting a brick wall / burn out.

Hi May100 we live in Belfast so the schools we are looking at are in Belfast and the one my son is hoping for is Grosvenor which in the past the scores intake have been 104, obviously don't know this years score yet. He has been averaging between 78% - 87% with a June birthday. He still is making silly mistakes, just hoping on the day he pulls it together. Be glad when it's all over.
I didn't realise that the GL test is made up of 2 test papers done in the one day, don't think it's fair that the kids doing AQE is over 3 Saturdays.

Grosvenor seems to be over 100 but one year it was much lower. Apparently lots of people didn't put it down as they thought they didn't stand a chance. The lesson was even if child comes out with a mark that is lower than what was required last year, still put it on the form as a choice - the cut off varies.

Last year my friend's son got a score of 103 with raw score of 81% and a Feb birthday. Feb - June would be worth at least an extra point..

    Jomdd,

Grosvenor is a good school - went there myself many years ago. Nice new school now and improved a lot from them. I was within reach of it that is where I'd want my kids to go.
  • DD got 50/64 today so this is final test they do in school as they normally do one on a Friday but aren't this week - think this is because if they get a bad score it would ruin their confidence. I really need her to get 106 and above and 50 is what she has got in last 3 tests and few before then 53/54 but averaging about 50. Her second choice she would need 100 plus so hopefully she can get that on day to at least get second choice. I swear my daughter was doing better in September and get constantly in high 80s but I think she is sick of them now and doing silly mistakes:-(

Last school test today. They give them what seems to be an easier one as score seemed higher than usual. The test on Monday was a 2015 paper and it was harder.
My DS scores were as good 6 weeks ago as now. The end is in sight - roll on Sat 11pm.

Yes May100, we went to see Grosvenor in January and he loved it haven't seen any others yet though. It was last year they took in 76 but as you say it was under subscribed as previous years was 104 so people weren't putting it down as a first choice. He done a test today in school but was told his last one is next week as it's the GL test next Saturday. Roll on the 3rd December.
